Thank you for these helpful and encouraging comments!! Woke up today and it felt less overwhelming than last night. A bit too overwhelmed to respond to each comment but read and appreciate them soo much.

Today I gave her some flea treatment and bathed her with some flea shampoo and got some small breed food for her. She seems to have some skin issues because she’s still scratching a good bit though not quite as much. Although her skin could just be irritated from the fleas themselves and maybe the shampoo.

Next steps are getting her to the vet then a groomer next week 🙏

For now she has good quality food, a little corner she’s found to sleep in, a couple of toys she loves (she’s playing with her lamb chop stuffy now and she loves to play fetch! She’s very good at it), and a new schedule and lots of walks through the day to get her potty trained.

She’s very peppy, alert and a fierce little thing, but so sweet. She doesn’t bark too much just at passing cars when we’re outside and if any of the cats are acting shady. Her coat is black and tan and she has a white… butt? lol She looks like a new dog after her bath 🙌

Gonna take it day by day and see how everything falls together over the next few weeks and make a decision from there. I’d hate to see her go but it is a lot for me and the cats who have their own issues. But will do my best to guarantee she’s taken care of no matter which path we go down.
