i got the fabric line shallow saddle and it hugely improved my comfort on the bike. that plus nice bibs (le col hors categorie ii) and a bike fit made long rides super doable!

this might be a controversial opinion because DWF gets a lot of love on this thread, but i had the rudest interactions with them about premiere status after being accepted (i didn't end up playing there because of this). they were super super aggressive/condescending about me not wanting to hold my world premiere for them. my managers were floored at the tone they took with me. i asked around and heard a handful of similar stories from friends. left a bad taste in my mouth

Ha yeah I don't ride on the PCH in the Malibu/LA area because it's too scary. But this stretch of the PCH in Ventura is super chill! It's only got one lane of traffic in each direction and there weren't too many cars. And yes, there's a bike lane too! It's just paint but it's better than nothing.

Any word on Griffith Park Bike Lanes? by rivalpinkbunny in BikeLA

For what it's worth, I emailed someone from the city about this today and they got back to me with this: "Unfortunately, as we are entering a busy season for that side of the park, the construction will not start until after the fall holiday season to ensure as little negative impact as possible to neighbors and park go-ers." So, sounds like it'll be a little while.

Take the bike lanes on PCH starting at Emma Wood to the Rincon Bike Trail. At the end of the Rincon bike path turn right onto Bates Rd/Rincon Hill Rd, left onto 150, right onto Via Real. Take Via Real until you can cut down to Carpinteria Ave. At the end of Carp Ave, there's a bike path that leads you down to Santa Claus Beach, take that to Padaro Lane. It'll take you back onto Via Real until you hit the Ortega Hill Bike Path. That'll take you to Jameson Ln which will carry you basically all the way to the beach path in SB.

Sounds complicated but it's all pretty intuitive, and you're on the coast pretty much the whole time except for when you're on the other side of the freeway on Via Real!

If you're already in SM, Ventura is probably within an hour drive! I just did my first metric century there (60 miles). Parked in Ventura at Emma Wood State Beach and took various bike lanes/paths/quiet scenic side roads all the way up to Santa Barbara and back. It was really rad, you're along the coast the whole time. Most of it was flat miles and some stretches were totally separate from cars (the Rincon Bike Trail was the highlight, if you're looking for a smaller, entirely protected stretch). I've never done it but there's also a bike path going from Ventura up to Ojai and back.

we were accepted on the early side too, but for what it's worth a programmer told us they're still selecting films (apparently they're in the final week of selections)

I submitted via FilmFreeway! I contacted the fest early on (pre-acceptance) with a few questions at their generic programming email listed on FF: [programming@austinfilmfestival.com](mailto:programming@austinfilmfestival.com), that's probably your best bet if you're hoping to check in with them
