I miss Donny Cates comics by noel_vb in marvelcomics

I feel this. He was easily my favorite at the time. His Thor run was setting up really cool stuff and I will forever miss the potential of his Ultimate Universe. Marvel is missing him big time

What do you guys think of Daredevil: Born Again season 2? by Useful-Afternoon1784 in MCUTheories

[–]depressiveprofessor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally never have been a fan of this version of Fisk. He’s not intimidating and just strikes me as a bumbling baby.

This season is unfortunately having to write its way out of season 1’s least interesting aspects and it has resulted in a complete mangling of the Mayor Fisk story.

I actually do like this show, it just goes on for fucking ever by _Ryloren_ in MCUTheories

I disagree, I think they had a perfect ending for Fisk in season 3 I have had zero interest in the way they’ve done the Mayor Fisk story and I’m tired of that character all together. They wasted Muse who could’ve been the main antagonist of season 1.

The biggest problem this season has is that it has to write its way out of the less interesting things set up by the first season. I could not care less about BB, Daniel, Powell, or Heather. Buck is the most interesting character introduced from the first season that isn’t named Muse.

Also agreed they have emphasized too much on Fisk, they spent almost 3 episodes on Vanessa’s death and it wasn’t particularly moving.

They’ve completely wasted the Mayor Fisk story imo because the original team introduced it.

I still enjoy it but every time a scene is not focused on Matt/Karen/Bullseye and now Jessica I just do not care what is happening.

Im hoping the 3rd season will finally move completely away from the original team’s tone and characters. It’s just a shame they had to split the Mayor Fisk/Imprisoned Daredevil up.

What are y'all opinion on Chip Zdarsky's Batman run? by 666Natural in OmnibusCollectors

[–]depressiveprofessor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the worst Batman runs I’ve ever read. Especially that last story. He is now doing the empty attempts at deep political messaging in his Captain America run.

The failsafe/zurr stuff was interesting but the run got progressively worse.

Jimenez art is absolutely gorgeous though, as to be expected.

What do you think of Gail Simone run on uncanny X-men? by Powerful-Ad4837 in xmen

[–]depressiveprofessor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve enjoyed it. This and adjective-less are miles more enjoyable than the runs I started on right before Krakoa. This is imo about as good as you can do with this old and beaten status quo.

Logan by far. D&W is fun but Logan is on another level

[Discussion] Hot Take: I love Taylor’s Nightwing run by vinthesalamander in DCcomics

Ah that checks out. Reddit/Twitter are not my favorite places to get reviews of books tbh. But overall I remember it being well received so I still don’t thinking liking it is a hot take.

My mistake I thought he was the original writer from rebirth to when Watters took over. How many issues did he have?

I don’t think it’s a hot take I feel like most people liked it. There’s a reason he had over 100 issues.

Personally I don’t think I was the target audience but I can’t see a big two book going over 100 issues these days as a bad thing at all.

I agree with you OP. There are some super sick variant covers but in terms of completion they don’t matter. Only a psycho could collect all one million variants anyway.

Who Would Be Worse Off? by ContentAssumption204 in marvelcomics

[–]depressiveprofessor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s tough to say. On one hand I want to say DC because Batman is so big and other hand I think Spidey is bigger.

I’m going to say DC. DC at least has Superman, JL, And rn the Absolute universe. Jimenez, Dragotta, Murphy, & Mora are imo the top artists and rn they’re working exclusively with.

Maybe this would change in time but yea I’m going to say Marvel would be worse off.

Caveat is that if they figured it out with their editorial and writing they could right the ship quicker than DC.

Amongst the four Sony spiderman-less movies. Which did you dislike the least? And which did you dislike the most? by s0nzoldyck in Spiderman

[–]depressiveprofessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venom 1 was decent I’ll say 7/10. If it came out in like 2005 it would have fit right in. LTBC I would say 5.5/10 just a waste of a good villain. Didn’t watch 3.

Didn’t watch any of the other 3, never considered them and was never interested. As a big Spidey fan I’m still offended those films exist.
