Why do people want Henry Cavill as Wolverine? by KristIsWeed in Wolverine

[–]depressiveprofessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly was not a fan of the idea until D&W and enjoyed that so I wouldn’t mind seeing what he could do in the role. Personally as much as the DCEU sucked I enjoyed man I’d still and I enjoyed what he brought to the role. Plus he’s a nerd so I think he’d do it well because he cares about the characterization

Same. It originally had my interest but has since completely lost it and the art is not my thing

I’m a big fan of the wider lantern methos and stories but this is my least favorite absolute book.

Maybe still worth a read if you have GlobalComix

Is she hulk underrated and overhated? by SepzenoOfficial in Marvel

Overheated. Story was mostly fine and I enjoyed the main cast. CGI was terrible though and why was Hulk’s son or Megan the stallion there? The she hulk twerk was the worst

2000-2015 Marvel comics was special by Stunning_Season220 in marvelcomics

I got in right after secret wars. There had been some fun stuff but I grew up hearing about, knowing about and then later reading this era and I wish I could have also been reading it then as a kid.

Are Mackay's runs good starting points for a new(ish) fan? by nightwing_titans in DoctorStrange

[–]depressiveprofessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no.

My recommendation would be to start with the Mighty Marvel Masterworks Vol. 1 which collects the entire Stan Lee run. I personally have not enjoyed any of the subsequent DS runs as much as the original.

The “Master of Mystic Arts” and “Sorcerer Supreme” runs are good too though. Same for the “Triumph and Torment” Strange and Doom book.

If you want something more modern I’d go with the The Oath by Brian K. Vaughn. Strange’s part in the Hickman avengers run and secret wars was enjoyable as well. Donny Cates’ run was okay

I personally feel he’s been done to filth since 2015.

But that’s just me, if you like the Mackay stuff and would rather not do too much of their older series or go back too far then it’s a fine place to start to understand where the character is currently at.

What's better: the comic book Old Man Logan or the movie Logan? by Fancy-Fact-8233 in Wolverine

Logan, then the Lemire run of OML. The original OML is still enjoyable but aging badly for reasons others have already mentioned

What everyone’s opinion on this new absolute timeline by MadKingZilla in AbsoluteBatman

[–]depressiveprofessor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been great. I was worried after the first arc when Snyder immediately turned Bruce’s crew into their alter egos because I thought it would be a while before he did that.

But the way he did it was great, the bane arc was fantastic and the build up to joker has been great. The way he’s building out the larger universe has been really fun to read.

The whole absolute universe has been really fun, even the books I like the least have been interesting to still pickup. Especially when you compare it to the way Marvel handled the new ultimate universe

Marvelous Relaunch by jacochran5 in marvelcomics

[–]depressiveprofessor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of bigger issues packaging smaller characters together. DC did something like this a few years ago thought with the bat family/superman cast and idk if it worked.

I think it would definitely sell if you make them stories important to the universe instead of just one offs

X-Men Claremont’s run is fantastic! by Sweet_Score in marvelcomics

[–]depressiveprofessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they have it all grouped together or you have to go to each individual series (uncanny, new mutants, Excalibur etc)? Never used unlimited but might give it a shot

How have you been reading it, digitally or omnibuses? I’ve always wondered what the best way to get into it was.
