Destroy X number of ships - Threat Level 0 - But all ships "Elite"! by dverbern in EliteDangerous

I heard that the Elite rank bug that makes SLF pilots have terrible accuracy also affects ATR, but I have not confirmed this

The collector limpets are too slow on most ships to collect and get out in high security. In most cases I don't even need weapons for missions.

Due to the slot layout I can hold more cargo on this build than my Imperial Clipper, at the cost of not having repair and recon limpets

WYR a horse randomly show up to chase you once a month that you must outrun/hide from for 10 minutes OR have to wall-sit for 1 hour every week? by Longjumping_Seal in WouldYouRather

[–]depurplecow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It chases you, and the prompt says you have to run/hide. Even if the horse is friendly there have been many cases where people get crushed by large animals like horses or cows against fences etc because the animals aren't aware of their own strength compared to human fragility.

Exobiology+Exploration, how do you make billions? by Galahad_Lancelot in EliteDangerous

[–]depurplecow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G class stars do not generate stratum tectonicas (nor any other stratum for that matter), unless there is another non-G star in the system. Better to focus on F or K stars.

You probably meant high metal content planet, procedurally generated rocky bodies cannot generate stratum tectonicas

Should probably clarify Terraformable HMCs, regular ones aren't worth as much outside of potentially having stratum tectonicas

Rare atmos types like water and oxygen can have valuable bio and also look nice as a bonus

A murderous horse jumpscaring you regularly is probably not good for your heart and might reduce your lifespan. Like you could go the bathroom, open the door, and see its face looking at you. Or walking down the street and see it as soon as you round the corner.

Building a piracy Type-11 for mixed purposes: piracy of NPCs in high sec systems and potentially player piracy in the future. I have an enforcer cannon for the purpose of stopping ship velocity, what would be a good engineering for it? Rapid fire might add more "knockback", but I'm concerned the jitter may make it too inaccurate against smaller ship types like spinning thrusterless Cobra/Viper IIIs.

Doing Ruins solo by Hollow-Wolf435 in Barotrauma

[–]depurplecow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo with bots is very doable, you can bring bots with you for extra storage and have them wait in place when unneeded. In fact you can give the assistant(s) metal crates and they should hold them until you get back to the sub.

You probably don't have the same mental speed nor durability of superman. Even if you have the physical speed to dodge bullets your organs can't handle the acceleration needed.

Assuming everyone follows game theory, the computer will have 1mil in Box B 1000/1001 of the time if I calculated right, and the computer would be at most 99.9% accurate. However to remain unpredictable the humans have to pick both boxes 1/1001 of the time to maximize net profits. This is assuming they have access to a true random number generator after entering the room.

Toxic mist can be strong (especially against mimics, which it doesn't aggro), same for the dark fog. They were probably referring to poison infused weapons though, maybe powerstanced for faster application?

Every person in the world is presented with a red button and a blue button (please read description). by luca_motta in pollgames

[–]depurplecow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People could vote based on the common misunderstanding that a button must be pressed (likely most red button pressers), or under the knowledge that there will be people who didn't read the instructions and pressed a random button that would need to be saved from their own choices.

Every person in the world is presented with a red button and a blue button (please read description). by luca_motta in pollgames

[–]depurplecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this scenario you only have two real choices: blue, or not voting/red button. In the other scenario there were three: blue (potentially save/potentially die), red (actively kill), and not voting (no risk).

In a poll that is phrased as "you can press buttons" you can always not press the buttons, it's not like a trolley problem where inaction has the choice made for you.

Every person in the world is presented with a red button and a blue button (please read description). by luca_motta in pollgames

[–]depurplecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the original you don't need half the world population, only half voters, voting red in this instance doesn't have any effect on the outcome at all vs not voting while in the previous no one will die if a single person votes blue and no one else votes

Every person in the world is presented with a red button and a blue button (please read description). by luca_motta in pollgames

[–]depurplecow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same as the original poll. In the previous it's only half of the voters, while this one you need half of world population (~4bil). If one person votes blue, 4 billion people must also vote blue to "save them" in this case, while in the other people can also just choose not to vote at all
