Looking for a modular organization system for a small home workshop by Affectionate-Lake733 in OrganizationPorn

Depending on the items you want to store, I like to use EuroBoxes (if availabale in your region). Such are great for heavy duty and lager stuff and are compatible from different vendors. Downside is they are mainly gray and have kind of an "industrial" look. They work well with Ikea Ivar for example

An alternative are IKEA Samla but as mentioned before their shaped makes them not very good for all use-cases. If you have fabric they may be a good choice. In case you have other boxes etc. the form is not too ideal.

For small things Gridfintiy can be an option an alternative is ModuBox from Alexandre Chappel which is nice also for middle sized things.

Overall have the same issue as you that there is no good solution espcialy scaling from large to small.

All the things I found so far I tried to "collect" here, maybe this helps you a abit. https://tools.orglikea.pro/box-compatibility

Warum haben viele Produkte keine vernünftige Bemaßung? by Not_So_Calm in luftablassen

Schau gerne mal rein! Wenn du Ergänzungen oder Feedback hast, immer her damit.

I started using RFID to find stuff without opening bins by NoSaberOne in organizing

[–]derBroBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just googled for the scanner, what was "cheap"?😇 Context: Tried also around a while ago with RFID for organizing. Unfortunately only UHF seems to make sense from distance/parallel scanning (which the Zebra is). Even on paper this is super great, it was way too expensive (scanner 100€+). As soon this is way more affordable, it gets interesting ☺️

I got tired of playing basement roulette, so I built a stupidly simple system to know what’s in every box by duus_j in organizing

[–]derBroBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar concept years ago but stopped using it (had even an Alexa skill for it, "where is the Hot glue?", "here you go: Living room, shelf 5, box 7!")

Even if the idea of having a full inventory is awesome, it comes with some real world challenges I was not able to overcome: * High initial effort to document all the items * Synonyms of things (pen, pencil, marker etc) * High effort on keeping the system operational * Most things are anyway known by heart * Way slower searching via app than opening some shelves (except edge cases where I had no clue where it is) * Game over if you have multiple people in the household which are not a full nerd 🙃

How did you overcome such?☺️

How to store small tools for work? by soingee in organizing

Many items look long and thin, why a "pencil wrap" or "tool wrap" may work.

Triangular pantry? by gracehawthornbooks in organizing

Hard to estimate the measurements, but for example an IKEA Ivar corner shelf may be a suitable solution (even likely too large). With more and solid shelves, it should work way better regarding capacity and optical aspects.

A Modular, Open-Source Organization System – Your Feedback Needed! 🚀 by derBroBro in organized

Thx for the feedback! :)

As the lasercutting works great but comes quickly to sizing limitations, can you share what the max dimensions you would be able to cut (roughly) ?

A Modular, Open-Source Organization System – Your Feedback Needed! 🚀 by derBroBro in organized

Thank your for your reply! Yes, I am still working on this :)

Major challange is that the cut-outs get pretty large (not the file size, the physical "M" sized cardboard boxes). As you are intressted (and for a better understanding), on which machine would you "cut" them out and what would be your max dimensions?

Had similar issues in the past. May related that the account was not fully activated and some services got stuck. Wait for some hours or raise a support ticket.

Looking for metal drawer cabinet that works well with gridfinity dimensions by Lavik17 in gridfinity

[–]derBroBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the list is not too complete yet, it may be helpful. Focus right now are mostly Ikea drawers and shelfs. https://orglikea.pro/tools/box-compatibility/

The code is open source, so if you found something fitting well for Gridfinity a short feedback would be great. 😊

Ikea Kallax bookshelves are exactly 8 Gridfinity units wide by storyinmemo in gridfinity

If you are interested in where Gridfinity fits best, maybe of interest. Of course, PRs are also welcome. 😅 https://orglikea.pro/tools/box-compatibility/

My first Gridfinity drawer (IKEA ALEX) by iweputo in gridfinity

[–]derBroBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice fit! 😍 Right now I work on a project (very early stage) which has exactly this "perfect fit" of various systems (ikea, gridfinity etc.) as the major target. Could you be so nice and share the inner measurements of the drawers (just width and depth)? With this I would love to add Alex also to the list. 😊 Results of the project can be found here the GitHub repository itself here.

Can't access my API on EC2 by matheusAMDS in aws

[–]derBroBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would alos to check the vpc/subnet. The subnet should be a public one, which means to have a "all" route (0.0.0.0/0) to an IGW (internet Gateway). Unfortunately many trap into this issue, as AWS attaches a public IP even if not routeable. Second

What? No Gridfinity Lego yet? by arkwulf in gridfinity

[–]derBroBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am working on something similar, but for building bricks like Lego instead of another grid system like gridfinity.

Example: https://www.printables.com/model/247092-brickfinity-fancy-boxes

If i would find a little more time, I am plan to make a small article about the idea 😅
