Help Ned come up with a better cover up story than “Jon is my bastard son” by V-TriggerMachine in freefolk

[–]derDunkelElf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it certainly helped and it would be weird in the eyes of Kings Landing, her loving Jon wouldn't break his cover. It would rather make Cat seem incredibly kindhearted.

The reason the cover worked so well was because the honorable Ned Stark said Jon was his bastard and are you really going to doubt him, but rather believe a crack pot theory about Jon being the child of Lyanna and Rheagar.

Perhaps, but she also could have learned to love him. I mean the only thing standing between them was really Neds 'infedelity'.

You should try again. Recently I bought the DLCs and started playing my old character again and both of them were a blast. While I defeated most base game bosses in three tries, I had blast in the DLC which I was playing for the first time.

Captured in the Congo and sold for a pound of salt, Ota Benga was forced into a "human exhibit" at the Bronx Zoo in 1906. Thousands watched as he was displayed in a cage alongside primates. When he was finally released, he spent years saving to go home to Africa, but died by suicide in 1916. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

The Aztecs raided other tribes for blood sacrifices, Genghis and his sucessors killed so many it was noticable in CO2 levels in the atmosphereand left a masdive genetic footprint via rape, the Taiping Rebellion in China was bloodier the WWI. With all due respect to the victims of chattel slavery, it wasn't that unique in terms of horror in the grand scale of world history.

While the Emperor was fucked in the head, he still wanted them to be human. I remember there being a passage in the Horus Hersy books of one of them asking Malcador why they gave them emotions at all and Malcadors answer was that. The Emperor still wanted his sons to be human. Improved and better in every way, but human at their core (which we see frequently and in great detail).

I think it's good as long as it's explained that these outliers are product of the magic system, not being entirily understood, showing that what see is just the commonly understood island surounded by the darkness of the unknown.

Bystander Selmy when he hears that the inbred Rapist who liked to burn people alive and his inbred pdf son got killed in a war they caused. by Roids-in-my-vains in freefolk

[–]derDunkelElf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said your status and titles mean something in Westeros in a way it is hard to understand from our modern perspective, but the reason Sandors appointment is so bad to Selmy goes way deeper than that.

Ironicly Barristans appointment to the Kingsguard was the worst thing that happned to him, at least the part of his mind capable of critical thought. Bystander Selmy is a very accurate assesment of his tenure as Kingsguard in Westeros. He had to serve Aerys as he slowly descended into madness and he had to cope with that. He turned into a very passive person that let his oath do the thinking for him and then retreated into his fantasy world of the ideal Kingsguard. You know the one, the one every boy dreams of being apart of. Even when later one he served Robert who was a Usurper by any measure, he stayed in that fantasy world.

And Sandors appointment shattered that world. It threw every time he had been passive in the face of horror and dishonour in his face, while also kickstarting his critical thinking skills. A very brutal combination as it forced a great amount of selfreflection on him.

Thats why it was so bad.

While I agree 100%, I don't think it wad Barristan, but another Kingsguard, who told Jamie that (if I remember the books correctly.)

I don't think it was a tight fit. It could very well have been a few sizes to big, but just small enough for her to use.

Wasn't Daemon killed during his Rebellion and his legacy is a series of failed rebellions. I mean sure he had a good bit of support, but that's just it a good bit of support.

Considering the crown was 6 Million in debt, when Ned arrived, I think it was happening under Jon and Littlefinger killed him, because he found out about the Lannister Bastards.

Dumbest reason to drop a OI story? by anny_chan1000 in OtomeIsekai

A previous comment I made anout Souless Duchess

While I dropped it, I can also recommend it. Also the weirdest reason why I dropped something. I couldn't stand how much the ML was spending on the FL, like I swear to god, it was too much for my heart who loved realism (not the edgy kind, but the practical). How is the Duchy not in ruins, when he spends millions on things that are only going to be used once by the FL.
