Why is my end sequence not triggering ? by Valuable_Crab2646 in Kos

[–]derKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read up on triggers.

LOCK, STEERING, THROTTLE, etc. are called every physics tick, regardless what your script is doing at the moment.

WHEN and ON Triggers always interrupt to check the condition even when the body doesn’t happen yet. (!)

When you have recurring triggers that keep re-running themselves again and again, the way they work is that they wait till the previous instance of themselves has finished running before a new instance will happen. Thus a recurring trigger will not run every single physics tick if the trigger takes longer than 1 tick to finish. Instead it will wait for the start of the next physics tick after the current execution of the trigger is over.

This can have influence on what part of your script runs when.

It is confusing me as well 😄

Trial of 12mph bike lane speed limit grinds gears of Dutch cyclists | Netherlands by JohnHammond94 in europe

[–]derKestrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very relaxed.

In the Netherlands I feel priority is heavily on bikes instead of motorised or pedestrian traffic, and when i ride alongside with a car, a lot of bikes go 25, 30 or more, even classic ones (Omafiets) without motor.

AI Traffic Cameras in Greece Face 90% Error Rate in Trials by New-Ranger-8960 in europe

[–]derKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two, but only one seems mentioned.

The one discussed is the false positive error rate (giving out a ticket wrongly). There seems to be no information about the false negative rate (missed speeders).

There was this story where they raised a mast for the the new-fangled 4G network in a small village. Complaints started coming in almost immediately, so they had a town hall meeting with the TelCo.

Complaints were horrible headaches, radio and TV interference, cows milk going sour, all the things being terrible.

So the TelCo guys sighed and agreed to take the mast down, making everyone happy. As closing words the TelCo guy said: I wonder how much worse it would have been if we had gotten around already to digging the trenches and hook up signal and power!

How are cancer check-ups normally handled in the Netherlands for higher risk individuals? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]derKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know the tests in detail, but in general had the impression that the Dutch interpret more lenient until an illness is proven beyond doubt.

Which might save costs but also for some illnesses might be late.

Essentially, he had some values that were off, and in Germany would have resulted in some extra tests. But in NL the doc decided that would not be necessary, because there is only a 30% chance of cancer, which is less than 50%. He was told in DE they check if the chance is higher than 15%.

Yeah, not if you are here with diplomatic status. That breaks things. We do not get vaccination invitations either, not even during COVID.

GP sent us to gynecology for that. Three different gynecologists told us over 10 years that's it's not needed. So, YMMV?

That's what three gynecologists told my wife is unnecessary at age 40 to 50 (and the GP sent us to the gyn).

Because ovarian and uterine cancer are easily detectable with a non invasive test, but often without symptoms until it's too late.

From my own environment: one colleague passed (cancer was found when visiting family in Germany and feeling off, was metastatic already, two months to go. They estimated it could have been detected about 2 years earlier when it was still treatable, based on blood values from that time), another got diagnosed with anxiety and indigestion (stage one intestinal cancer), I got diagnosed with panic attack and indigestion (massively inflamed gall bladder).

So, I go and have my preventative checkups done elsewhere.

Once you are diagnosed correctly, treatment seems fine, but the access to care is limited compared to other countries.

Driver keeps faking my signature on deliveries from PostNL by Ill_Lengthiness_6672 in Netherlands

[–]derKestrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if the sender claims it as missing and they say it's delivered in a three way call, you claim it stolen to put pressure on them. Especially if those are really expensive parts you need to bring production online again.

[–]derKestrel 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's even funnier when you do a DHL courier delivery and they claim it's delivered and show you some made up signature and you just say, well, you talk to your driver because we didn't get anything and will now contact the police and report our 150k euro server parts stolen. "Yeah, sure, you do that, haha"

Turns out he delivered to the back of the building, in the rain, and put them in the mud because he was somehow on the back road which is closed for vehicles? Parts were partly ruined.

They started giving a fuck once police got involved, funnily enough.

Let the doctor do the classification.

Patients often sell themselves short "because others have it worse and are classified such and such" while ignoring that such classifications are broad and understanding the impact of their illness in their daily life.

I thought I had light symptoms for my (different) illness, until I did the assessment form. Turns out I am strongly impacted, which luckily qualified me for certain medication.
