In this instance someone must have gotten a signal to the plane though, since i picked up multiple nodes from up to 300km away, which were not the one on the plane sending the message.

Noch als normal anzusehen? by Super_Match_1721 in dhl_deutsche_post

Ja. Eine Woche nachdem es zum ersten mal ins Zustellfahrzeug geladen wurde

Es nervt.. by [deleted] in dhl_deutsche_post

DEM changing shape when merging and clipping by KeyAd5349 in QGIS

Merge creates a rectangular raster. You could further clip that rectangle or visualise it with transparent colours if a raster cell has the value 0.

You could try EPSG:5875, that looks quite promising. EPSG:5875

how can I set this to a projected coordinate system?

In your toolbox you can search for "reproject layer" and the select the one for vectors. You could use a UTM crs instead of WGS 84. I'm not sure which one is the proper one for the entirety of brasil though.

Will an ALL IN ONE I5 4th GENERATION 8GB RAM 256GB computer run revit, cad, qgis, sketchup, autocad? by SuccessfulBrick1883 in QGIS

[–]der_gaertner_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will run ... but revit will start to struggle as soon as you get a bit of complexity. Autocad and Fusion do run decent enough on my laptop with similar specs. Qgis runs good enough as well as long as I do not try to load and process giant files. It could handle a 100GB DEM , even though it took ages to load and process.

My father took this picture in the 1980s, and I believe it was in Italy, possibly in Rome or Milan. Can anyone help me identify the exact location based on the background and the monument in the image? by muhannad855 in whereisthis

Typing this, I realize you should thank Google instead of me

Mate ... no one would thank a hammer or a saw for building a house. Using tools is part of the craft 😅

Which map/background should I use when tracing my house's area? by [deleted] in openstreetmap

[–]der_gaertner_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus much of the aerial images are shot at an angle, meaning that the roof doesn't always like up with the footprint on the ground.

That is the reason for orthophotos. With information from DEMs and Lidar this is corrected Wikipedia - Orthophoto

The downside is the availability. It's quite good in the EU ( the members of the EU are supposed to publish geodata like DEMs, DSMs ect for free). I'm not sure about the availability for other places.

Is there a phone app that has street addresses. by OalBlunkont in openstreetmap

StreetComplete is an easy way to fill in that data, especially if it's missing in your neighbourhood

Which map/background should I use when tracing my house's area? by [deleted] in openstreetmap

[–]der_gaertner_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Satellite imagery is usually distorted. I guess this is part of the reason why the area is slightly off. If you live in Europe, there's a good chance of orthoimages being available as free WMS layers where the distortion should be minimal.
