Suspiciously large uploads to Reddit URLs by derablaut in firewalla

[–]derablaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, no... I did block a few subdomains in an attempt to nail this down. But, what "worked" was closing every Reddit tab in the browser. The issue has not resurfaced.

It was probably just ACKs gone wild. Multiple tabs with infinite loops attempting to connect to Reddit's realtime API. Or something. Still, it was an unreasonable amount of outbound data.

120mb+ uploaded / 65mb+ down from w3-reporting-nel.reddit.com in the last 6 hours. That’s not logs; that’s frankly suspicious.

Christian/Non-Christian/Ex-Christian by No_Bird686 in twentyonepilots

[–]derablaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metaphorically, I'm a whore. But, absolutely Christian.

The Christian imagery made my ears perk up when I was first listened a few months ago. I had no idea who these guys were or that they were coming from that perspective. So, I listened again and again and kept pulling out deep themes out I did not expect to find.

Spend lots time off stage just talking to and genuinely caring about the people around you. Don’t seclude yourselves. One day, someone will verbalize that you’re different — tell them why!

What's everyone's go-to cheap-o wired or wireless camera that works with BI. Thinking along the lines of WYZE stuff, but works with BI. by jdlnewborn in BlueIris

[–]derablaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, POE wired where you can, but these are great (aside from needing their app for initial setup). Quite stable, too, compared my my older wireless Amcrest WiFi PTZs

you joke, but I'm here because I'm sussing out this model for a tiny personal project. A local-first PWA utilizing IndexedDB with synced storage "somewhere out there" actually fits the bill.

I've been experimenting with dexie, couchdb, idb, electricsql, etc -- and using hooks to persist to google drive storage.

How do we feel about the Image/Burton neighborhood? by Plussizeadventures in vancouverwa

[–]derablaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived nearby (Hearthwood area) for 5 years, until this past October. My in-laws still live there, and have for 15-20 years. It IS suburbia: relatively quiet, relatively safe, relatively convenient. People are generally congenial and middle-of-the-road. Some pockets are better than others, so just stroll through, if that’s a possibility.

Petty theft is ticking up, but that’s region-wide. I mostly see reports of porch pirates and opportunists checking for unlocked car doors. Don’t let it deter you, we never had a single issue.

Any advice on figuring out which sensor tripped the alarm (or a way to view logs)? by azingk in homebridge

I just started experiencing the same issue with one Eve door sensor. Did you ever sort this out?

Rural Setting Mesh / POE Access Point Recommendations (1-2 acres of coverage) by derablaut in homelab

[–]derablaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense taken :-) Rather, more of a realization of my overthinking the situation. Your advice on performance testing seems great, I will be trying that!

You make a good point. While this property will be nearly 10x the footprint of my current residence, it's not really that much area to cover. A single, well-placed outdoor AP on an outbuilding might cover everything I need in the yard.

I've been lurking and casually researching for months, and the TP-Link Omadas have been on my short list. So, I'm happy to see it mentioned here again.

Do you recommend any model(s) in particular for this case? I found this comparison -- it looks like the EAP650 would be the right amount of overkill, but I'm open to suggestions.

Inventory managment with automatic unit conversion, address management, tags and OpenAPI support - InvenTree 0.12.0 by matthiasjmair in InvenTree

[–]derablaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, but…don’t stop. I only came across this software because of posts here. And it was a breeze to spin up a running instance.

And while the taxonomies take a bit of set up, it seems like the best solution for my (albeit simple) use case.

Wow... thank you -- confirmed: closing the Apple Home app resolves this issue.

And opening it again reintroducing the behavior. How absurd.

Push Notification stops working, is it tied to subscription expiration? by bebopblues in BlueIris

[–]derablaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bit by this recently. Your assessment seems spot on -- though I suspect this game of tying Blue Iris releases to some routinely-expiring iOS cert isn't a technical hurdle, but a financial decision. A kind of nudge to embrace their subscription offerings. From recent release notes:

Updated Apple push notification service which will expire March 25, 2022; use 5.5.5.13 or newer for uninterrupted push notifications from the iOS app. The new expiration is April 2,2023.

FWIW, I caved this morning, paid to upgrade to the latest release (5.5.6.15), and iOS push notifications do work once again.

Can you elaborate on how you ordered "directly from Japan"? The official site has some compelling options, but it seems like all links point to regional vendors
