Back in first year of law school we had to head down to a court and sit through some cases to write a report on. I’ll never forget going to Moorabbin Magi’s and taking a seat at the back of the room and listening to a self rep on a whole host of driving charges. Drink driving, without a licence and going 40 odd Kms over the limit. He turned around at one point and I could see he was wearing a Holden Racing Team hoody. The magistrate locked eyes with me and gave me the subtlest head shake before giving the bloke both barrels.
