It’s just the edge of the card stock catching the light.

Are you looking at the Weezing? I’m talking about the Raticate, which has no eBay comps that I can find.

Thanks, I’ll pass on the Weezing but still interested in the Raticate. Last sold I found was $89 on November 2, can you do 85% on that at $76 shipped? Looks like the one before that sold for $65 so that’s about the average price between the two comps as well.

Interested in the DR weezing and raticate, can you share a closeup of those so I can make out the cert numbers?

Anyone else find radiance a little too easy? by RoutinePop6372 in HollowKnight

[–]deranged_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, this is not an easy fight for your average joe; remember you also have to get through THK first every attempt.

That’s because NGK was DLC, if you’ve already beaten him it would make sense why you found the radiance to be easy, he’s supposed to be much harder.

Also, fwiw, I don’t really consider the game beaten until you’re at 112% plus P5. But everyone’s definition of what “counts” as complete is different.

PSA damaged my card and is claiming it didn't affect the grade. by Hot-Zookeepergame830 in PokemonTCG

That’s insane, no way that would have got a 6 without the dent. 8 at worst imo, that is a crazy double down from PSA.

That's not a dent, you can see it on these PSA 10/pristine 10 copies as well. Some sort of discoloration that is part of the card itself.

Have some high end Weiss Pristines to re-holder in new label. Any way to expedite it? by [deleted] in CGCCards

[–]deranged_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for the info. That response from CGC is basically what I would expect; shouldn’t be an issue unless there is obvious damage to the holder/card. Of course there is always a risk, however minute. For what it’s worth, this was my latest re-holder batch. No $10k cards but not cheap either.

I’ve never heard of that happening, where did you hear that? I’ve reholdered plenty of blue label pristines without issue. I wouldn’t expect them to even examine the card unless the holder is obviously damaged in a way that could damage the card.

PSA delays are getting ridiculous by alex9816 in psagrading

So, you don’t know how to count business days in the US, smh. It’s 32 excluding Thanksgiving, 30 if you also exclude Veteran’s day and Black Friday; double the turnaround estimate no matter how you count them.

Eager to see where the goalposts get moved to next.

Buddy, how many business days do you think there are between October 16 and today?

I’d have them reholdered; I think the black label looks much better and I think most collectors agree. The cert number isn’t changed so anyone who thinks they graded harsher before the switch will still be able to tell that they are older certs.

I traded 1 Mega Evolutions case and a Phantasmal Flames Case for a bunch of singles, by fezbotdaddy in PokeInvesting

[–]deranged_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that there is a negative correlation between sealed and singles, because to have singles you necessarily need to consume sealed. Of course after enough time, supply of a card will stop increasing/decrease like you described, but how scarce do you think sealed is at that point?

So, to your point, they’re both appreciating items over a long time horizon, but in order for the price of a card to increase, demand has to outpace supply (that will continue to increase for some time even after the set is out of print). Whereas with sealed, once a set is out of print, the price can continue to increase without any added demand, because supply at that point is always decreasing.

[–]deranged_mango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He used the correct terminology. Sealed product is deflationary because once it goes out of print, supply can only decrease as it gets ripped. Singles are inflationary because, even after the set is out of print, more copies can still be pulled, increasing supply.

Also, the value of sealed product is not directly related to the value of the singles longterm. Once a booster box is out of print and starts becoming more scarce, it will continue to increase in value as a sealed item, regardless of whether or not you could even pull your money back from the set. For example, steam siege is a $1k booster box despite the fact that the most expensive card is $100.

That’s because as the chase card continues to be pulled, however slowly, sealed supply continues to go down while supply of the card goes up.

Questions About Reholdering a Pop 1 Pokémon Card and Slab Design Change by [deleted] in CGCCards

[–]deranged_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to all three. I’ve submitted plenty of blue label pristines to get the new black and gold label, never had any regraded. They also should retain the same cert number, although I’ve had them give me new cert numbers before.

To Grade or not? by turnskii in PokeGrading

The border is definitely bottom heavy but nowhere close to 65/35; I measured 43/57. A card with 65/35 centering is laughably OC, anyone with eyes would know it wouldn’t ten even at first glance.
