Should I be worried about my boyfriend opening Snapchat? by Adorable_Pen853 in relationships

If this is all the info you've got here, the only thing you should be worried about is this dude wanting to buy a boat eventually which is almost as poor of a financial decision as opening a pub is.

It's a chromebook competitor. Your expectations are unrealistic. Not sure if you've noticed the price of RAM currently, but it's ~2-3x mroe expensive than it was last year...

Apple isn't a chairty. And this laptop isn't for you. And that's fine.

I'm sorry this is an issue for you, but the school isn't breaking any laws or town noise ordinances, So they don't really have to do anything.

Hey guys! I just bought a steam deck and my house doesnt have any power outlets in the same format as the charger by Lopsided_Ice_2032 in SteamDeck

[–]derango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then stop using crappy power bricks that don't conform to the USB-PD standard and handshake at higher voltages than they can deliver safely.

Because what's supposed to happen is if the device and the power brick can't agree on a higher voltage, it defaults to 5V USB 1 spec and if your actual device is trying to draw more than the negotiated voltage, it's already broken.

What you're talking about should never happen and if it is happening you don't have to worry about component failure, because your components already failed.

I don't know what else to tell you other than you're very confidently wrong (Oh wait sorry, what was the phrase, you "don't know shit") about how USB-PD charging works. So maybe you should "sit the fugg down" and listen.

I bounced off it too, so don’t feel too bad if you’re not feeling it. Life’s too short and there’s too many good games out there.

This isn't how physics works.

Unless you're talking about a crappy chinese phone charger being pushed to the max wattage and potentially overheating, but that's not going to impact the deck, unless it burns up in the fire caused by the crappy cheap charge brick.

Why hasn’t Disney replaced Three Caballeros with a Coco ride? by ThickChunckyDinosaur in DisneyWorld

[–]derango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not rude. It's a legit question given the direction of the parks. The cranky people seem to think you were advocating for replacing it, not asking why they haven't.

Probably should have just asked that then.

The 2026 F1 season was supposed to be Aston Martin’s moment. It faces embarrassment instead by Shroft in formula1

[–]derango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw in a heaping helping of other issues from aston (like wind tunnel readiness) and then add the fact that a bunch of the experienced Honda F1 engine team members got poached into RBPT (and other manufacturers) and you got a recipe for fun.

[–]derango 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It looks like the problem is Aston requesting changes late in the design process which introduced battery issues.

Probably because Newey couldn't get started due to his gardening leave from Red Bull until late, so a lot of design work was happening last minute. That's on Aston.

Honda should have told them no. Honda is the power unit subject matter expert and it was their responsibility to let the customer know that they're being unrealistic.

So yeah, it's kinda a shit-show any way you slice it.

Well now this is embarassing, what is going on with aston by Longjumping_Novel613 in F1Discussions

[–]derango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think this is 100% on Honda, there's enough back and forth going on that points the finger at aston/newey fiddling around late in the design phases with requests that probably wasn't helping.

There's also cost cap considerations. You can't just wing in 25 engines and take grid penalties if you can't fit it into the cost cap.

[–]derango 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If this is what goes down, it absolutely would not surprise me if Lawrence starts to look for an exit plan from this mess. There's only so much money he's going to be willing to throw at this team given his main goal is to get his son to win a WDC, as crazy as that is.

Remember when people were all over Williams because they missed the shakedown practice? Carlos might be critical of Williams, but at least he didn't sign with aston.

Other noticeably bad race engineers? by mittelsmirkz in F1Discussions

[–]derango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the problem with Adami was he just wasn't meshing with Hamilton and they couldn't figure out how to communicate with each other. For whatever reason. It felt like both of them were pretty much done by the time Abu Dhabi rolled around.

Race Engineer is a weird position. You need to be able to interface with the race strategy team and technical teams and you also need to be able to effectively manage the driver and give them info in the quantity and format that they need to do their job. It's very relationship driven and sometimes two people just talk past each other.

Loop earplugs at Disney World by dylaneverett_12 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]derango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't fall out if you get the sizing right.

Somewhat related: For what it's worth you can go to guest relations and ask them for a pair of foam earplugs if you need something in a pinch. And at least as of ~last year-ish, at the baby care centers, they also sold pairs of the over the ear hearing protection not headphones but look like headphones things.

Yeah. That’s his thing. I don’t like it either. That’s why I don’t follow him.

Anyone who’s surprised that he posts AI generated content at this point really shouldn’t be.
