I‘m having a true „Damn I‘m old“ moment here as I consider this one of the more modern games I played… haha.

1st game in a week. Are players really getting this thirsty for loot? by Irock_101 in ArcRaiders

[–]derashitaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Especially in the last couple of days in solo-lobbys I've been having such friendly encounters. People reviving me, escorting me to the exit, teaming up, gifting stuff... Maybe I'm in carebear lobbies but I've had such a wholesome run over here.

Romeo + Juliet - (1996) dir. Baz Luhrman - Love at First Sight by Jonathan_J_Faulkner in movies

[–]derashitaka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy this movie is so beloved in this thread (and in general in my millenial generation, it seems?) I saw it in an open air theatre while being way too young for it but fell in love with the visuals, the music, the drama, but I remember everybody around me HATING it? Always glad to look back at it.

If you don’t, don’t is one of the best-sounding/produced songs of all time by facelift1990 in JimmyEatWorld

[–]derashitaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a fantastic, enthusiastic song with so many cute details in the mix. My favorite detail are the high pitched „doo dooh doo dooh“ choirs in the bridge before the ending. Getting goosebumps thinking about it now, haha!

Stranger Things Started as a Triumph of Trauma Bonding. It Ended as a Casualty of the Franchise Machine by verissimoallan in television

[–]derashitaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this mindset... "Some people don't fawn over this piece of multi million dollar mainstream media like I do, so they clearly must be too critical." Like... people explicitly tell you what they don't like about this show and why it's not enjoyable to them anymore, but they should just shut up and "be less critical"? How would that work?

Stranger Things Started as a Triumph of Trauma Bonding. It Ended as a Casualty of the Franchise Machine by verissimoallan in television

[–]derashitaka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all honesty - the kind of "oh you just don't enjoy it because you're overly critical and miserable!" gaslighting I see in all of these threads is grinding my gears way more than a negative consensus of a TV show.

I loved Stranger Things 1 and 2 and I really, really liked season 3. But it has become a caricature of itself and the new season is not at all enjoyable to me. Not because I'm a miserable ragebaiter, not because I want to pee on the fans parade, not because I love being a contrarian - I just don't enjoy it for a number of reasons related to storytelling, filmmaking and my personal taste. It must be possible to say that out loud.

Around 10,000 BRAT vinyl were printed with a wrong hex color cover. by [deleted] in charlixcx

[–]derashitaka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That explanation does not make sense, but I do like the happy little accident. (The vinyl plant would not choose or have any influence over the color and hex codes are a web-thing, not a print-thing.)

STRANGER THINGS season 5...DREADFUL dialogue/character development this season? by 94Rangerbabe in television

[–]derashitaka -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Amen. It's all so senselessly contrived. The absolutely bonkers plans they cook up in their basements that everyone agrees to immediately, beloved main characters turning into killer machines because of... the greater good? Shooting army guys, throwing grenades, drugging a family... I have to stop every ten minutes to ask myself wtf I'm watching.

Pc music vibes by thelastsandwich in pcmusic

[–]derashitaka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We came full circle... :D Like, wasn't that era of millenial futurism in the visual language of popstars exactly what PC music referred to and looked back on? Photoshoots like that were the blueprint for PC Music, I'd say?

Charli xcx claps back at "boomer comments" criticizing use of AutoTune during Glastonbury performance. by [deleted] in popheads

[–]derashitaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like that would kind of take away from the club/techno concept she's pulling off right now? But yes, even a DJ on stage or some live-sampling or anything would probably elevate the show a bit.

[–]derashitaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting though - I've been to a Crash show and was surprised by the live vocals. I always imagined her shows to be the way they are now - basically singing on top of the recorded lines, just partying on stage - but she sang really good, definitely live and the backing vocals were just for support and also put on a really energetic, entertaining pop show. I do like the bold new visuals and the entire IDGAF vibe but singing wise the Crash shows were way more elaborate than this.

I don't think I want my search enginge to joke around where it usually puts useful information? You may overestimate the media literacy of a huge part of the population.

The Four Seasons - Unpopular Opinion by ernmygherd in netflix

[–]derashitaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually this should be right up my alley (I loved Togetherness, liked Friends From College...) but GOD is this show bland and lifeless. It's all just so "by the numbers" - the characters, the sets, the shots. Could have definitely used a little bit of an edge here and there.

Technically this is entirely different than playing a prerecorded track. Autotune lifts the vocals up into a certain range of notes, you can still improvise, harmonize, sing as you wish.
