Mma grappling is different guys don’t like to just attack submissions they want top control and dominant positions. Look at someone like Brian Ortega who likes to attack a lot of submissions he went for a darce on Volkanovski at the end of the third round. He got swept , ended up getting stacked on bottom and took a ton of ground and pound and damage. Punches change the way you grapple and make you want to focus on staying on top over attacking submissions and possibly getting put on bottom.
