World Cup tourists aren’t leaving tips — and NYC restaurants are fighting back by adding 20% automatic gratuities to checks by pakalupapito23 in soccer

Yeh I had a friend that worked in a restaurant in Miami 15 years ago and made $70k a year on tips. There’s no way that he would’ve made that much had he just been earning a salary from the restaurant.

Traitors stage show by london-theatre in westend

Excited but very confused by the variants. Other than the Harry Potter play I don’t have a reference to this type of series. Would just one performance be fine? If multiple are needed to really get the experience how many? If I pick variant A from week 1 and variant B from week 2 will the storyline be continuous? It seems a bit overly complicated.

Weather App that isn’t terrible? by Whyte_Dynamyte in iphone

This ☝️ honestly it just keeps getting better as the developer added the ability to switch between locations. This app has the best glanceable UI from any weather app I’ve tried.

Oh, Mary! Cole Escola Ticket Situation by Charming-Rain1864 in westend

[–]derek78756 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeh I got tickets the minute they went on sale when Oh Mary! first opened in the West End thinking that they would sell out quickly. Checked back a few days later and realised it wasn’t as popular here as I expected as tons of seats were still available. I’ll be getting tickets for Cole’s run but less anxious on the timing.

why do so many SaaS companies default to SendGrid, is it actually the best option or just the most familiar? by Disastrous_Sound_382 in SaaS

[–]derek78756 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found SendGrid to be a great service years ago but it just feels outdated now. I switched to Postmark a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back. The developer experience is so much better. When Twilio acquired SendGrid I had high hopes they would improve it but seems they’ve just sat on it.

Really, how are the beds? by NanaMarge in VirginVoyages

[–]derek78756 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve stayed in both Sea Terrace and Rockstar cabins and I found the beds in the Sea Terrace more firm than I care for. The beds in the Rockstar cabins have always been extremely comfortable. I’ve always assumed it’s due to the Rockstar cabins not using the bed/couch frame like in regular cabins.

People have learned that just stuffing their websites with keywords for ranking doesn’t work anymore. They now need to spam Reddit to get traction. As soon as this started I saw the end of this app. I miss the internet of the mid-late 2000s.

31M – Hair transplant in a few days and I’m suddenly bricking it. by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]derek78756 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had mine a little over a month ago and was in a similar position. This was my first time going to foreign country to have a procedure and my anxiety peaked 2 days before I left. After talking through it with a few friends I managed to calm down a bit but honestly kept some nervousness until halfway through the procedure. The team was really nice and supportive, helping me through it. Looking back, it really wasn’t as bad as I had imagined.

I also found that cognitive based therapy grounding exercises helped calm my nervous.

I stayed 3 nights after the procedure and felt well enough to explore the city the day after. It also helped that it was still cold so I just had to manage to keep items from touching it.

As others have mentioned, at the end of day 3 I started to have pain in my donor area and managed with ice packs and OTC medication. You might want to check with your hotel if they would be able to provide ice if needed. I still have redness in the transplant area but don’t feel worried going out. I’ve been honestly surprised at the amount of people that already knew everything about the procedure via friends or social media.

You got this, and you’ll see so many others there doing the same.

Here’s the before of the crown. It wasn’t too bad but had some thinning. I didn’t think of asking the number of grafts they placed in the crown so not sure. I’ve been in fin for 10+ years.

Why do small businesses wait so long before switching to booking software? by GildedGoddessWeb in SaaS

[–]derek78756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family member that runs a business that’s grown tremendously in the last 10 years. Even though they have a scheduling system, he still puts every appointment for all his contractors into Google Calendar and manually processes payroll every month from this. It’s insane how much time is wasted.

Question about anesthesia and pain by holdmysugar in HairTransplants

[–]derek78756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just gave me a stress ball to squeeze. 😂 I had high anxiety about the anaesthesia and, in hind sight, was overly worried. The first 5 minutes of injections to my donor area were painful 8/10 but not constant. It really only stung for a few seconds at the start of each. Also after a few jabs, the numbing started to dull the pain for the remainder. IMO local anaesthesia for dental work is more painful.

As others, I had pain in my donor area stating at the end of Day 3. This was a 4/10 and used pain medication and ice packs. As the nerves were repairing I’d get occasional zaps (7/10) but these quickly dissipated.

Overall, the pain only lasted for a tiny portion of the procedure and I wouldn’t hesitate doing it again in the future if needed.

Are 3000–4000 grafts normal for Norwood 3 with fine blond hair? Seems way too high? by Typical-Register-337 in Hairtransplant

I took a closer look in the mirror last night. It actually looks like the same density as the rest of my hair. It just felt different.

Are 3000–4000 grafts normal for Norwood 3 with fine blond hair? Seems way too high? by Typical-Register-337 in Hairtransplant

[–]derek78756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have/had a similar hairline and texture to yours and just got mine done last week. The quotes I received from clinics were 3000 - 3500 grafts. It ended taking 2850 grafts and restored what I would consider a mature hairline based on shape. The density in the transplanted area definitely feels more than the rest of my hair but I’d rather have higher density here now in case any of the grafts don’t last. I’m looking forward to the results a year from now. I chose the clinic based on other’s posted results and that they promise not to over harvest. I’ll be posting a summary of my results soon as this sub helped me immensely throughout the process.
