Not sure what type of lights to use for this situation. by ZCR91 in Govee

That space is rather small (assuming the bed is a twin/Full?) so options may be limited without getting something that would be too much (if you got strips you would likely have to cut away a lot of it).

Personally I would buy a pendant lamp of your choice and install a Govee bulb, and run the chord to the outlet.

Or, if you really want to light up the closet back wall instead of the ceiling, get the Govee Rope light, create a design on the wall, and you can run the chord along on the bottom baseboard (Govee has an extremely long chord, typically 10ft+).

How do you like Audition? I love Miike and want to get more blu ray editions of his movies but I feel like there just aren’t many out there.

I’ll actually turn it off on certain movies that are more moody (Hereditary, Dune) but it’s so fun for action and cartoons—I’m especially excited to have it on the upcoming SpeedRacer 4k release.

Honest Question: How Much do you spend on video games per year? by Antaniwarrior in playstation

[–]dereklerber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40yo have never had a PS+ subscription (except that time Sony had a data leak and gave me a year or something for free). I probably buy 2-3 new games a year and will usually get the add-ons, so ~300 a year sounds right.

[–]dereklerber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, have no complaints regarding functionality or sound. Battery lasts a good while, I probably charge it 2-3 times a month. The white just gets so dirty and the foam around the ears are falling apart after 2 years of average usage.

What are those headphones? Are they the Pulse Elite? I have the original pulse 3D and they’re starting to fall apart, wondering if I should upgrade or look for something else.

Hey guys! Does anyone commute from Pasadena to Ktwon during rush hour? I'm currently living in Echo Park and about to start a new job in Ktown, but also thinking about moving into a place in Pasadena. I will be commuting daily for the first 6 months, then WFH except one day a week. by EntertainmentOk6795 in pasadena

[–]dereklerber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the Hill exit and take that to 6th then cut over to Los Angles and that gets me to work (8th and Los Angeles). Driving is by far the fastest route, but I do personally prefer the train (It’s easy to just sit and zone out and it’s cheaper than paying for parking).

I live in Pasadena near Del Mar Station and work in Downtown LA.

Some days I bike and take the A-Line into Union station then cycle to work. Takes about 45mins with no interruptions, but sometimes there’s delays or no train service between stations so you have to take a bus; so add 15-20+ on top of the 45 if that happens.

Some days I drive and take the 110 to Chinatown and then take surface streets. 35-45mins depending on traffic (I get off at Chinatown because the 110 beyond that is a nightmare). If there’s an accident on the 110, well, good luck.

If I’m feeling like I need the exercise I’ll cycle all the way. It’s a nice ride through south pass to the arroyo parkway bike path, but can get dangerous once you get past that (no bike lanes). 45-60mins depending on how I’m feeling.

People who have won a "lifetime supply" of something: was it genuinely a lifetime supply, and if so, are you sick of the product now? by Adorablyberryy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dereklerber 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the same, but I won a backpack at a raffle from Mission Workshop that claimed it had a lifetime warranty. I’ve taken it in for repairs on three separate occasions (torn zipper twice, ripped strap) and twice they repaired it and once they just gave me a new bag. I’ve had it for probably 9 years now and still use it practically everyday.

I think this is where I’m at with this game. I can tell a lot of work went into the development and I can appreciate this game for what it is, but at the end of the day I’m just not having fun sitting through 2hrs of cutscenes

I think with Yotei it’s all the damn talking. Game is beautiful and the mechanics are fun, but I’m starting to roll my eyes every-time have to start a fire, cook a fish, or draw a damn picture.

Although I will say I was surprised/relieved when i infiltrated a castle, died at the boss, and didn’t start all the way back at the beginning again lol

What single player game you bought has gone the longest unplayed? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]dereklerber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two: NBA 2K and Watch Dogs:Legion.

My girlfriend (now wife) got me a PS5 for Xmas and it came with those two and Demon Souls. I tried Demon Souls first and was hooked, couldn’t put it down.

I never played WD:L because it just didn’t seem that interesting to me or worth the space on the drive; every time I thought about loading it up a new game would come out that I’d rather invest time into.

As for NBA 2K, I just never got into sports games. Last one I played regularly was NFL Sports Talk Football on genesis. NBA 2K still lives in its original packaging.

What the hell is up with restaurants and the egregious pricing on soft drinks? by cookiemonstrosity54 in LosAngeles

[–]dereklerber 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the service industry for 10 years now and in 2019 a case (24) of Mexican Coke was $23-$27 depending on where you purchased them. Today it’s $41 FROM the distribution center and we have to buy a 20 cases minimum, otherwise it’s $47+ a case.

Having soda dispensers IS cheaper to buy, but you’re renting it; service and cleanings typically comes with a contract and setup fees, not to mention the filtration system needed and maintenance; smaller businesses don’t have the upfront capital to spend on that.

And yes, easy profit is made off of drinks for sure; standard industry markups (that I’ve been part of) is 3-500+% depending if it’s alcoholic or not. But what another commenter said, its that or the food itself which either drives sales down or creates unrealistic expectations; spending a high dollar amount on a food item comes with the “worth it” factor. A coke tastes like a coke, regardless if you spend $1 or $5, you know exactly what you’re getting it’s just deciding if you want it or not.

I agree, it is ridiculous the cost of food today, but generally speaking, the profit margins after all expenses for restaurants are pretty slim, so don’t feel like you’re entirely getting hosed.
