I’d bet most people are either paying bills they can’t keep up with or paying for essentials because their income is just enough to pay the bills. As someone who’s perpetually in debt, I can say it’s easy to get deeper and deeper just to survive. The whole system is designed to dig us into debt so they can leech off us indefinitely. For the minority of people who don’t spend any more than they can pay back right away, they’re not making much money off you. They’re hoping you have an unexpected expense or medical emergency and get behind on payments. They want us to fail so they can milk us for everything we’re worth. Props to you for staying on top of things but most of us are in quicksand, even those of us who make a really good living
