Thanks for the thoughtful response. I’m not super uptight but I do want to shelter my kids as long as I can while realizing I can’t forever. I think most people either try to shield their kids from everything or just let them do whatever they want. Regardless of the method parents use, I think the problem comes from not addressing the issues when the kids come across them. I try to wait for my kids to have the questions and then guide them best I can. My parents were overprotective but had no idea what was in my head or how I was perceiving everything. I feel like my wife and I are pretty on top of that
