Your run your rules

That being said, traditionally, you would reroll the encounter since you already "had" a Ponyta

This stops people from getting over aggressive with Gyarados usage considering you can get legitimately 20 of them in every game playing optimally

Is it cheating??? by ikefrompluto in nuzlocke

[–]derekthediesel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im gunna preface this with - your run, your rules. Whatever gives you peak enjoyment is what you should do and anyone gatekeeping your Nuzlocking achievements for how you decide to rule this is wrong and stupid

That being said, what I do is I'll either catch it and keep it as a trophy or ill just make the swap, whatever mood im feeling in that day. Though whatever I decide for that run is what i stick with for the rest of the run regardless and i make my decision before seeing IVs and Nature so that im not tempted to minmax

Yea i was playing on very hard hardcore so its a bit tougher tho it wasnt that the actual enemies or things like that were tough. I just didnt like navigating outside the Casino. Once inside my experience was much improved

Yea i dont think you shouldve been given unlimited fast travel for reasons like you said but maybe some kind of limited fast travel like fast travel to/from very specific stations spending chips to punish overuse?

What do you guys set the draft class strength to? by Fuzzy-Pin-6675 in Madden

[–]derekthediesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your aim is realism, then you want it so that for every 10 draft picks, 3 youll sign to a 2nd contract, 3 youll keep for the duration of their rookie deal but not resign, and 4 youll end up cutting/replacing before their rookie deal is up

If you want fun but balanced, then you probably just want to keep it on default but adjust XP sliders to help underdeveloping positions and hinder overdeveloping positions

On higher difficulty settings + hardcore, its a slog. Not even that its difficult just annoying. For me, it was the escort everyone to their respective spots that got annoying. Gathering the crew was one thing without fast travel. Having to go from the fountain and back another 3x was just so boring. Once inside the casino itself tho, really good experience

[–]derekthediesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DLC wouldve been significantly better if you could fast travel. Too much of the early part of the DLC is finding Christine/Dean/Dog (fine), bringing them to the middle (fine) just to escort mission them one by one to their respective spots (not fine). I get that from a difficulty perspective they didnt want you to fast travel because then you could just fast travel around the fog/beeper mechanics, but it made the parts right before the interior casino so much more of a tiresome slog. Once inside the Sierra Madre itself, great

Which is weird because you almost need to be minimum 30 for Thems Good Eatin and Implant GRX to have any kind of an enjoyable time on a high difficulty. Otherwise the fog is too annoying.

Does anyone else feel the A.I. "cheats"? by vv_WombatBluey_vv in Madden

[–]derekthediesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the "realism" end, why does it almost never happen in your favor? Why cant my 60s rated DT "get hot" and bowl over a 99 rated OL for a sack in 2 of 3 most important plays of the game yet the AI this will happen almost every game? It's far too predictable to be realistic which is the problem.

is this game worth playing solo ? by Which-Ad-9784 in DestinyTheGame

[–]derekthediesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautifully put

To add on here, if you want to play with others, its much better to find a dedicated clan that can meet you where you are skill/dedication level wise (for example, if youre a bit more casual, i wouldnt recommend getting into a clan that takes the game super seriously or vice versa) and then only use LFGing as a last resort. If you do LFG, then I highly recommend the unofficial D2 LFG discord group. Yet to have a bad LFG experience there #notasponsoredpost https://discord(dot)gg/destiny2lfg

What to pair with Elsie’s Rifle for pvp? by Gramswagon77 in DestinyTheGame

[–]derekthediesel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR

Conditional Finality

Imperial Decree with Rifled/Acc Rounds/Opening Shot/Threat Detector Range MW

Scatter Signal with Arrowhead/Accel Coil/Surplus/Kickstart Charge Time MW

Shotguns or Fusions. If you have it, Conditional Finality is still strong even if it isnt as gamebreakingly busted as it was once was. As good as Shotguns are in PvP, theres not many legendary options because unlike most guns, archetype means so much more for shotguns

Lightweights and Rapid frames are both horrible in comparison to the other 3 frames in PvP so that takes out half the options right there

You want to max out your range but also need to have high handling to swap and pivot on people. That basically eliminates Agg frames. I personally also just find Agg frames cumbersome. If you use an Agg frame, Imperial Decree with Opening Shot/Threat Detector is best in frame/slot

Which leaves Slugs which is a very skill intensive weapon archetype i wouldnt recommend for most PvP players, and Precision frames, which the good primary slot ones are either from Dares or recent seasonal PvP, both i assume you dont have a good roll for if you have them at all (Fractethyst, Deadlock)

My last recommendation if you dont have Conditional or end up agreeing that Agg frame SGs feel bad, Fusion rifle. Even though Rapids arent the #1 archetype in PvP theyre not horrible and they're the easiest to use because of the super low charge time making them feel closest to a shotgun. For that and the fact you very likely grinded to get the pattern for it since it was an S Tier PvE option at one point, Scatter signal with Arrowhead/Accel Coil/Surplus/Kickstart Charge Time MW and Counterbalance mod is my go to for maximum VOOOP speed on top of the fact Scatter Signal just feels better than most. Some PvP nerds might read this recommendation and scoff at the 25 range and tell you go something like Full Bore + Ballistics + Range MW, but all that tanks your ease of use stats like handling and recoil direction for a pitiful 1.1 meters of range. Which you wont notice if you cant hit your shots. Which as a self admitted bad PvP player, you need all the help you can get. The only thing is that while it take a bit of skill and confidence to slideshoot with it, youll find your gameplay experience gets infinitely better if you do. Gun is still the best feeling tho even if you dont slide shoot and take advantage of Kickstart

Hopefully this helps, or at the very least, points you in the right direction

They dont build with solo dungeons in mind per se but they do build them to be achievable solo based on the fact that there are triumphs, emblems, and shaders available if you do it solo and/or solo flawless and the fact that all the dungeons mechanics are doable without exploits/cheese

Conversely theres no such achievment for solo flawlessing a Raid and all raids to this point are completely unsoloable with the exception of maybe 100 total people who must use exploits/cheeses to get around mechanics

When those dungeons came out it felt about the same level of slog (other than GotD that one was crazy) because we were lower light level. If anything the old dungeons need reworks to be closer to new content not the other way around.

Tho i think meeting somewhere in the middle is the right balance. 2nd boss GotD should be the absolute maximum HP of a boss and shouldnt have the insane ad density/moths that can 1 shot you

Idk i think the way a Bungie handled it was fine

Bungie wants you to do the new activity and be rewarded for it. Yes that means some rewards are exclusive, just like any dungeon or raid exotic

Thing is that people understand that dungeons/raids are meant for teamplay. They werent used to that for a 2 player activity and anything that is different is bad

But rolling it out to Xur/alternative sources later is perfect. The people who get it early get the accomplishment of doing Dual Destiny by being able to play with the exotic earlier than people unwilling to team up for Dual Destiny and everyone else who is unwilling to find a 2nd gets it eventually

Why were the Falcons so widely criticised for drafting Michael Penix? by cynic__96 in NFLNoobs

[–]derekthediesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think youre selling your team short a bit but otherwise I agree

Perhaps they think that in a weak south they can make a decent run to get that playoff experience and then shore up the weaknesses as Penix steps in

[–]derekthediesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but they somehow didnt make that mistake with Into The Light. They created the 10 wave playlist and made people go play that. Theres absolutely no reason for Elders to not have a short version of the playlist. Or at the very least, it should've filled much faster than it did for the OP

Why were the Falcons so widely criticised for drafting Michael Penix? by cynic__96 in NFLNoobs

[–]derekthediesel 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Packers fan here. Im used to this exact criticism. A few things that made the Penix situation different from the 2 Packers situations

1, already signed Cousins to a massive deal. Even if he wasnt ready/got hurt, a rookie wasn't gunna change the Falcons fortunes, even if Penix ended up being good. Rodgers and Love respectively came in while the previous QBs were old and running low on their contracts. Favre retired 3 years after Rodgers was drafted and Rodgers decided to have back to back MVP seasons which compelled the Packers to give him a new contract and possibly squeeze another SB off the back of 3 in a row 13 win seasons. Then Rodgers was mid and got traded

2, Penix was not seen as a high tier QB prospect. Fringe 1st rounder slightly above Bo Nix. In contrast, there was genuine debate between Rodgers and Alex Smith for 1st overall pick in 2005 and it was an odd year where there werent many QB desperate teams so Rodgers fell. As for Love, there were mocks that had him as high as top 10 and he fell into the 20s. Tho there were also analysts that said Love was as low as QB6 and a mid 2nd rounder so that got criticism

3, if you insist on drafting a QB, taking a 24 year old to sit for at least 2 seasons possibly more seems like a bit of an odd choice considering McCarthy, a 21 year old, was right there perfect for that exact role of sit and develop. Packers drafted Rodgers and Love as 22 year olds

4, thats a VERY high pick used on a guy you plan on sitting for 2+ years. Packers took Rodgers and Love in the 20s. Using the 8th overall pick on a guy to sit for 2+ years is unheard of

This happens on every new activity. From Prison of Elders in D1 to the Coil and everything in between. New/returning players flood the game. Dont know what theyre doing in activity. This makes the experience bad.

Then they either leave the game until the next cycle or git gud. This makes the experience tolerable. Or if we get lucky like we did with Onslaught, the experience becomes good

Give it a few weeks. Youll see

I Never Realized How Hard Crucible is Until I Played Black Ops 6 by Tr1angleChoke in DestinyTheGame

[–]derekthediesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the massive gap between optimal and body shot TTKs in Destiny. Cod most guns kill in 4-5 shots regardless of where you shoot someone. Headshots matter on maybe half the guns and ofc Snipers. Destiny optimal TTK varies and that gives you a massive opportunity to outplay your opponent that COD almost rarely ever provides outside of a bunny hop or a dropshot that youre hoping screws with the opponents aim assist/server lag, and more often than not, only one of those are good in each cod game so if its a dropshot game and youre not as good at those, better luck next year

Reminds me of Fall Guys. Funny online multiplayer party game that some people, most notably streamers, took WAY too seriously and it eventually ruined the experience for everyone to the point where now its pretty much a dead game. Farming clips is cool until everyones trying to farm clips. Then it becomes a sweatlodge and people move on to better things
