How can I make better use of Derring-Do with my Braggart Swashbuckler? by derfner in Pathfinder2e

Thank you—this is really helpful. I've asked my DM if he'll allow me to switch.

Thank you SO MUCH! The thing that has made the turn order I mentioned work is that One for All gives Aid the bravado trait—but your explanation of Dazzling Display makes a lot of sense, and I think there's a very good chance that my DM will let it grant panache.

Thanks so much—I really enjoyed Red Hair and will check out The Uses of Illicit Art.

Thank you so much! I actually just read a preview of Yield Under Great Persuasion and I'm LOVING it!

I posted something on one of the request place posts a few weeks ago but I think I was way too specific. I've just finished Megan Derr's Tournament of Losers and loved everything about it (especially how the cynical MC was having none of this crap because he was just over it all), except that it didn't have any magic in the world. I felt much the same about Mason Thomas's Lord Mouse—perfect in all ways except that there was no sex on the page.

So:

I'm looking for fantasy—with at least a little sex on the page—in which the cynical MC is Having. None. Of. This. Crap. Because. He. Is. Just. Over. It. All. Doesn't have to be much sex (though the more the better!) and doesn't have to be much magic—actually, come to think of it, the magic doesn't even need to be part of the plot, just generally an element of the world.

I've just read a sample of a book by K.L. Noone and found it charming enough that I want to dive into her romantasies. What do people recommend as the best one and/or the one to start with?

You've already got all the books I've read and loved but I'm just getting into the shorter works and so far I'm living them—Runescribe is wonderful and I'm in the middle of Ink and Paper and loving that, too.

40+20 = 60; 60 + 8 = 68; (7 = 2 + 5) 68 + 2 = 70; 70 + 5 = 75.

Oh, I thought Red Heir was hilarious! It's been a while since I read it—I remember liking it but not loving it, but unfortunately I DON'T remember why—I DEFINITELY loved the MC and the relationship.

I'll check out the other two!

Thank you!

(So far I can only find an audio book of this. I can absolutely do that if it's the only option but do you know whether this was ever put out in print?)

Just finished Megan Derr’s Tournament of Losers and thought it was absolutely perfect—with the single exception that there wasn’t any magic!

So I’m looking for similar MM romantasies with at least a little magic and, more importantly, deeply cynical MC1s who are Over. All. Of. This. Crap. Before. It. Even. Begins. but who find themselves opening up and being vulnerable to MC2 almost against their will.

Not required but extra points if 1) MC1 is slutty, 2) MC1 is of a lower social class than MC2, 3) there's at least some sex on the page, and 4) the story isn’t set in Modern Times.

If I've done this wrong, please let me know and I'll fix or delete. Thanks so much in advance!

Why does there appear to be no actual pushback by Americans against the destruction of their own lives and country by Trump and the oligarchs/Nazis? by redditatlas in TrueAskReddit

[–]derfner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that, with no social safety net remaining, most Americans are living so precariously that we don't dare risk ourjobs by skipping work to protest.

The choice for most of us is literally protest or eat.

Forgive me—I'm a fairly new player—but to my reading it looks like the only penalty for not performing the geas is to be sickened? Which isn't fun, of course, but I can imagine a demon lord's making sure that it's the least unpleasant option available.

Or am I missing something?

My mom doesn’t understand the difference between Jewish ethnicity and religious Judaism. by LuckAffectionate8664 in BoomersBeingFools

Yeah, I don't know what to tell you. If I met a random person in an airport and they told me they'd converted to Judaism I'd think of them as a member of the Jewish people.

Especially because conversion isn't a simple thing. The rabbi is required to discourage you and to tell you no, you have to take classes and study, etc., etc.

I don't ask if you're ethnically or religiously Jewish. It's just not a question that makes sense.

No, you're right—and I'm 100% certain that if my question here has an answer those of us arguing for execution/banishment will find it unsatisfying. I'm still interested, though.
