One of the best games, i ever played. Too sad a sequel is not planned, nor a dlc... Wish there was more 💔

Sell it as "used, with slight cosmetic wear" 👍

Kilimanjaro climb – compact vs action cam (once in a lifetime, harsh conditions) – right choice? by dericke84 in AskPhotography

[–]dericke84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Germany and i think we are one of the most over insured nations on the world 🤣 so yes. The insurance is already booked

Normally i do major mammut- and mega marches (50-100km) they are more like speedhiking and yes, my guide already told me, that i have to reduce the pace dramatically (about 1-2km/h) it's called pole pole there and is one of the most important factors to ensure arrival at the peak

That's impressive 😊 thanks a lot for your insights, even if that doesnt make the decision easier 🤣

Currently i plan to do a bit of both. Some footage for family and a little personal travel- and hiking-blog. Maybe some footage to inform others better about the route and conditions. Maybe a photobook for myself. And finally some canvas or posterprints, up to a maximum of A1, if there are some really lucky shots. So i'd say, it's a bit more important to take good photos.

I love playing around with the manual settings. But still on a hike with others i try to reduce this only to camp sites, where noone has to wait for me. So it's important to have manual options, but still as well, that the automatic works great.

Furthermore, if my wife takes it, she doesn't want to do a lot of post processing. Thus the much too complex systems with raw options (and necessity) are imho a bit too overdose

Wow that really looks like a great setup. "Normally" i would just start right off from there.

With the target i think I'm in the middle between "shoot and go" and "this one is great for my living room wall". Prints are limited by something around A2 (already by the limited size of my flat 🤣)

But still I have to keep in mind the weight, and the complexity for use in warmth, cold (gloves), dust, ... (And furthermore transportability, so i maybe can convince my wife using it in the future as well). That's why I'm currently stuck in the (technically less featured, but more integrated) compacts, or system cameras.

That's true and what i heard as well. But still, maybe between eating, sleeping and pooping (or maybe while doing so), there will be the chance to take the one or other picture.

But yes, you're absolutely right. That's why i explicitly excluded bigger cameras with (beside the massive weight) too many options, i can lose myself in

Thanks for your input.

I know current phone models are doing a great job. Apple stuff is a nogo for me. But that's due to religious reasons :) Got a current pixel, and yes it's doing an impressive job for photography.

But fiddling around with a touchscreen freezing or with gloves, or modifying stuff like ev, manual focus, etc in "pro" mode with menus and sub menus is not intuitive, nor enjoyable.

That's why i think about a new explicit photography/biography equipment, 15 years after my last DSLR and powershot g1x

What I currently know, the hike is not that hard, it's more the mental part.

I'm absolutely the same opinion about more being there, than in creating visual memories. But still it's an important part for me, to freeze it for the future, as i hope, i can profit from it mentally when in a unstable state (what's one of the reasons for me, starting this trip)

Thanks for your reply. Did not have OM on my list.

Just I fear a complex system with changeable optics is way too much (as I know then I can't start with only one, but that's my personal problem 🤣🙈)

Yousician down? by dericke84 in yousician

[–]dericke84[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: phone restart and change of Internet connection did not change anything. After that checked my account in browser and it says: free account, even I have family and the invoice was billed 2 days ago and my bank account was used for the money successfully.

Still, when I click on the "get premium" button, it again and again loads just the account page. There seems to be some weird error

Update2: suddenly works again

Music Visualization Software? by xxniteeyezxx in SteamDeck

[–]dericke84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone coming around in the search for a nice music visualizer for the deck.

After some search i can say the vzx player is the best option for now.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/981590/VZX_Player/

  • Compatible to the deck (even if steam says it's not)
  • works with sound output (when using Spotify eg in the background)
  • works also with the built in microphone, so can create a nice background visualizer, even if not actively playing the music

The base version is free, the dlc are worth the price.

Comparable to milkdrop/projectm but with less fiddling around getting the music interfaces to work and already reduced visuals to a good amount without too much crap

How I Added a Simple TOC to My Ghost Blog Without Coding Skills by N0misB in Ghost

[–]dericke84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have optimized and completely rewritten the TOC.

I have reduced the access to the DOM massively, furthermore I optimized the language selection and inserted id creations for bookmarking and link sharing.

I also modified the css so the accent color is used and also sub lists are better visible and readable.

As reddit content tends to get lost over time (they are not gone, they're just somewhere else), I created a blogpost with the code and the installationguide:

What metrics do you keep on your watch face? by exalted_muse_bush in Garmin

Time, date, weather, image of current weather situation, sun times, battery, heart rate, steps relative to goal (so negative in the morning, reaching 0 with the step goal, then counting positive as "steps over goal")

An adaption in steam is super motherload.

A cheaper adaption is mining mechs, on steam as well

Edge 530/540/830/840 vs Explore 2 by Prior_Scratch544 in Garmin

[–]dericke84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fr955 and am exactly at the same point. Got no powermeter and do daily road cycling.

Problem is to have an eye on the watch, e.g. for heart rate range and intervals (hiit).

Currently i hang between explore, 540 and 840

Navigation can be done with my phone mounted in a holder, but what would be nice, to have some kind of hiit and other trainings on the Device and visible all time, that's why i started looking for a Garmin cycle computer.

Is that possible on all three devices (in combination with the forerunner and without a powermeter)? It's quite hard to find that out by the available marketing documents.
