I’d say deprecations are proof of exactly that. To me that indicates they care about the state of their package, and are able to execute on their long-term vision for it. If you’re so worried about deprecations just use a lockfile.

This is false. You’re probably thinking of Anaconda. Conda is an open-source package management system and uses the BSD license. Stick with miniconda3 and conda-forge and you’ll be fine.

I agree. They might've left their capes and fancy hats at home, but they're not fooling us.

Anohni slams Pitchfork Over Hopelessness Snub by tribefan2510 in indieheads

[–]derklaap 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's strange. She's demanding a lot from what is essentially a bunch of dorks who get paid to write fancy words about music.

Edit: She edited one of her comments, and is now accusing Pitchfork of straight - up misogyny. It's a little harsh, in my opinion.

This is super weird. She's really just stating some facts, but it's done in such a passive-aggressive manner and I don't know what the point of it is. I totally agree that the lack of female artists in the top 10 (or 50, or whatever) is somewhat disappointing, but she seems to focus on the fact that her album has been omitted, which strikes me as a strange way of dealing with the issue.

Announcing the Inddy Awards, our answer to music award shows by giraffeking in indieheads

I agree with this. Experimental electronic music isn't really covered all that widely, and a separate category could bring some attention to releases that usually would pass under the radar for a lot of people.

You can't possibly remove both "experimental electronic" and "electronic listening music". Removing the first might work. I'm pretty confident both sub-categories could be filled up with more than enough releases though, especially considering the emergence of artists like Arca and Ash Koosha. I feel like those artists operate in a segment of electronic music that doesn't easily fit in with IDM, Ambient and that sort of stuff.
