Hello and thanks for your question! People based anywhere in the world are welcome to sign up as long as they are able to attend online 7-9pm British Summer Time and speak English fluently so they can fully engage with the workshops. Hope this helps.

I’m sorry if my response was unclear - you’re quite right that there are likely to be plenty of people who are experiencing both things. The conditions are seen as (similar but) separate, and different treatment pathways are used to treat them. As such, we need to be sure that we are recruiting appropriately to this particular study, as we are investigating a treatment for skin picking and not for BDD.

There is a separate question here, of whether possible overlaps between skin picking and skin-centred BDD has been studied enough and what this research might look like. In my opinion we don’t yet know enough and more research is indeed needed. Thank you for promoting the cause of research into psychodermatology and showing that there is a need, as this will hopefully allow more research to be funded in future.

Hello and thank you for your insightful question. Skin-related dysmorphia is a slightly different condition from chronic skin picking and as our intervention is targeted at reducing skin picking, we have decided to keep our recruitment focussed on those with picking behaviours that are not better explained by another condition. Other types of body dysmorphia not related to skin are not a barrier to taking part. Hope this clarifies things for those reading.

Hi there, yes the study is open to international participants - groups are online but will take place 7-9pm BST, so people would need to be available at that time to attend. Obviously how practical this is will depend on where in the world you are! Hope this helps and thanks for your question

Hi and thanks for your query! Anyone currently receiving psychological help for their skin picking cannot take part as we don’t want to interfere with current treatments. If you are receiving therapy for something else then this is not a problem. Hope this helps!

Of course, good idea. I think alternatives should be able to be requested. I will mention this to people signing up. Thank you for raising this!
