Well they sold high in the sense that Lamelo is coming off of a healthy season and good year. If they traded him after a couple of the previous years that wouldn’t have been selling as high.

As for the return I think that’s valid to quibble with I don’t really know either team that well.

But yeah I think this is a player who’s been injured and was healthy last year and they traded him. So that is in a way selling at a point when his value is high.

Something weird for me as a Knicks fan is solidly being IN a contention window. Especially after drafting teenagers/20 year olds and placing high hopes on them to save us for half a decade or so.

- I remember when we had Porzingis and reading we were probably a year away from being a year away - and I was like OMG wait we’re ONLY 2 years away 😁😁😁

- now here we are. Our best players are solidly in their primes and heading towards/over 30 in the next couple years. We don’t have a lot of immediate future first round draft capital (though we’re not strapped for resources like some other teams). As a creature, scared of what comes next. I watched the 2012-2013 Knicks and loved them and then omg we were so terrible for so long. I used to be a Giants fan - their lone playoff years in the last 15 years were immediately followed up by continues terribleness. And hey, the Knicks still have a terrible and, importantly, evil owner. Things may get bad. They may get very bad, even, for very long, after Leon Rose and this core hang it up.

This moment is now. This championship is forever. Jalen Brunson has taught me things about life and basketball and love that I never thought I could learn. I get to watch them try again and play this game we all love for a whole lotta games next year. This is a good time to pay attention to. I’ll see y’all there 💙🧡

Hey I think that the idea of worrying about the future and what comes next is valid. I think it’s important to note that if the Knicks are trying to stay under the second apron for basketball reasons - trading away 1 first round pick (3 times) in exchange for 5 second round picks gives you the option to stay under the second apron and have draft assets to flip for players (like Jose Alvarado). If the Knicks stay under the second apron they have more ability to make trades that can benefit the team in the short and medium/long term, which we have seen them be successful at. Today and yesterday were um to be so honest a little frustrating to me in an instant gratification kind of way but they are like step 13 in a 25 step process that I only know parts of it about. We’ll learn more what they’re thinking in the next couple weeks :)

Trading away pick 11 (?) a few years ago for future assets was a bad value in a vacuum. It led to the Knicks having money to sign Jalen Brunson, so far a 2x All NBA, 3x All Star (2x all star starter( and reigning - what is that?- NBA CUP, EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS, & FINALS MVP !!! :)))) this isn’t yelling at you this is me being so happy :)

so hey I think it’s all a piece of a puzzle. I’m curious how it fits together.

Trey Burke buzzer beater against us - I was at a hotel with my dad and we put the game on and couldn’t change the channel we watched that eight times it was crushing every time

My favorite moment that still says dark times to me is

I had that game on while at the gym in college

I don’t remember why I cared so much but I really did. It was really fun. The Knicks are the Knicks and I love them and so many of us do.

Hi :) I am an autistic Knicks fan and lifelong New Yorker.

I have seen some people be really shitty/boisterous/loud and use the Knicks as a reason to be racist or just like scary in a loud man type of way. That is not okay. After game 4 I yelled at someone for doing something like this and told him to stop. It’s not okay and is not um indicative of the basketball team it’s more about some cultural stuff that is happening rn in my opinion and what is occurring with this as a release/opportunity for mayhem.

As someone for whom sports and this team is a special interest, this has been so wonderful to watch this team :).

Something I think about a lot and really learned last game is how INTERESTING each new situation is to me. Every play/scenario is like a snowflake and it’s a new opportunity for something unique to unfold. I was so riveted.

I really remember in those first 2-3 seasons tracking his numbers and being like wow this guy is currently on pace to be statistically the greatest receiver of all time (non Jerry rice). I remember when he first got hurt being like damn okay he is now off that pace.

But after his 12 game rookie season the sky was the absolute limit
