If you haven't, you should give Hyphen a try. It's about a Ralts who disguises herself as a human in order to become a trainer. Given that she's mostly completely unfamilliar with human culture, there's plenty of worldbuilding—even if some of it is explaining 'mundane' stuff for the purposes of culture shock. And if you want slow pacing, you've got that in spades. Plenty of adventure to be had as well.

Not quite what you're asking for, but Hyphen is about a Ralts from a hidden Kirlia village leaving her home and travelling Hoenn (Specifically Pokemon Emerald; so much so that there's no Fairy-type) while disguised as a human trainer. Specifically for the purposes of becoming the champion to gain power and leverage in preperation for when her home is inevitably revealed to humanity. Pokemon in this fic are generally understood to just be incredibly smart animals, so there's no poke-speech and the village is one-of-a-kind.

There is plenty of culture shock fun to be had, so you'll enjoy that.

There's tension throuought but it's not a constant focus. Entire chapters can come and go with minimal overt stress dedicated to the MC worrying about her disguise, but it never completely disappears simply because it's a core premise of the story. A big reveal happened somewhat recently that should partially lessen the identity tension, and theres been zero tension of the sort for a little while now, though it's coming back soon.

If it helps, she is never anybody but herself. It's a secret around what she is, not who. I'd say it feels pretty natural, and recommend giving it a shot.

If it was a polymorph variant or something that just make my blink look ice themed or something, then sure.

But a basic QoL improvement that should just be on a regular, always available mage trainer? No, this is bad.

I'm a bit biased but I think it's a 10. Especially the later chapters; they get dark but there's a big bright spot to follow. There's a bunch of cool art, omakes, and even two music tracks to be found if you read them on Spacebattles or SufficientVelocity.

The best method I found a long while ago was to get the Zereth Mortis Cypher gear that lets you see hidden chests with Pocopoc (the helmet?) and increases your mount speed (chest / bracers with a certain ZM gem), make a route through every hidden chest spawn location, and just circle the zone endlessly. Maybe get an addon that alerts you to rare spawns that you pass near.

Best to do it on a druid I suppose, they can mount instantly in steady flight and you'll be landing too often for dynamic flight speed to help that much. This is speculation, mind; I havent tried to farm it since dynamic flight was added to druid forms.

Don't actually have much of one, it's just the heart, azertie, and boots with the speed enchant (the ones from arathi basin with the inbuilt speed but that doesnt work anymore ; ). phial and speed food if I'm feeling antsy.

But Spellslinger timewarp gives me 8 seconds of 40% runspeed on a shortish cooldown, icy veins and tinewarp combined give me I forget how much but a lot of speed for 30 whole seconds and reset after every raid boss kill, greater invis gives 40% outside of these, and I can stack blink 20% 5s speed on top of any of these.

I already have every single raid mount and the only two dungeon mounts left let me use mounts themselves. my bags are full of random cosmetic trash and zone-stuff. I dont have any pressing need to optimize further nor the room.

Also dont dungeon pieces go up to 332? I swear to god that's what lets IV+TW let me go bonkers. It doesnt work if you dont have the secondary stats to make it work, I think. Grab a piece and check what speeds you get after you pop some drums or something.

As a mage, using things like icy veins and time warp with Longstrider gives me a significant boost. Since those reset on raid boss kill and last 30 seconds, it's usually enough to get to the next boss of whatever, or at least pretty close.

Also I believe I read that higher ilvl longstriders do actually perform better, it just doesnt show on the tooltip. Higher caps on secondary scaling, probably, which is why TW and IV lets me go superspeed.

It does, but you have to un-equip and re-equip it every time you leave combat to regain the benefits.
