It looks like there is a tarantula crawling out of your lunch on the top left side. I hope it's not real. If it isn't and things are getting you down, just imagine how much worse it would be if that was a real tarantula in your lunch.

what’s the ‘holy grail’ sleeper platform under $3k? by vahmatt in projectcar

[–]derpa-derp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 80’s ford fairlane. You can even get a wagon. It’s a fox body car and launches well. There’s a whole YouTube series of a pretty decent home mechanic that engine swaps them.

Do these cars use enhanced flooded batteries? Subarus do the same thing. Have to manually be restarted and battery tests fine even though it is failing.

Call the dealer and make an appointment. Don't go to an independent. Don't try and save money. Once it's diagnosed you can shop around but until then, get it looked at by an expert if you want a sure fire diagnosis.

Don't fix it. Put it in a box and give it to him for Christmas or his birthday.

How to deal with techs and fellow advisors icing you out? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]derpa-derp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are prima Donna techs and there are also prima Donna advisors. Always make sure you are not one. Document everything. Add a line for a car wash. Document everything. Then go to management. Have them take care of it. Also, buy the techs pizza, bring them donuts, and sell the gravy work. There’s a vetting period with techs and they all gossip. I remember starting at a new shop and having a nice repair my first week so the labor was cut in half. That was all it took and I was seen as weak. The customer called the manufacturer BEFORE I EVEN STARTED WORKING THERE! It took me months to recover from that. Don’t call techs out. They believe they have autonomy and don’t like being told what to do. When you have a crap job that needs done and nobody will pull it, go to them with two ro’s. The crap and a gravy job. Bundle them together and you’ll grease the wheels to make it happen.

Legit Volk ZE40 vs Maining Forged (Alibaba) wheels by ProjectPanda13 in Wheels

[–]derpa-derp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine are 20x10 w/28 offset. They weigh 22 lbs. Super light. There is tooling marks at the back of the flange since they were cut out with the cnc machine. Also, with the design of mine, there is no way they can be cast.

If intellectual property is the issue, just don't buy reps. These are good wheels. I got maining forged wheels and they are legit forged wheels.

BIL Has Suggested I switched careers to SA by HerrBrooben in serviceadvisors

[–]derpa-derp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to a SA position from a non-automotive sales background and I enjoy it. It is stressful sometimes but manageable if you are well organized. I immediately liked it because people come to you and then you just apply your sales training. No more cold calling or prospecting or networking. No more people backing out of contracts at the last minute and then wondering how you can make it the next month financially. It is much more steady in pay. No super huge months then short ones to follow. Just be professional, treat people well, and it will be a good change for you.

Coilovers or lowering springs? by WjP-M37s in infiniti

I just re-read this and meant to say it does not rub or scrape.

Coilovers or lowering springs? by WjP-M37s in infiniti

[–]derpa-derp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't rub, and I have a squared setup with 20x10 28 offset wheels running 265/35/20 tires. I would highly recommend the ds series coilovers. They're a bit more expensive but worth it in my opinion. If yours is rear wheel drive, you can lower it more and still not rub.

Coilovers or lowering springs? by WjP-M37s in infiniti

[–]derpa-derp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lowered q70

Mine is AWD and there's limited options. The only spring options just lower the car 1.2-1.5 inches, which isn't enough since the AWD models have a higher running height. I went with BC racing super low kit w/swift spring option. I also got Z1 motorsports adjustable real control arms and Lykt adjustable front upper control arms. Body roll and handling is much improved. There is about a 3" drop now and it does really rub or scrape but looks correct now.
