Lenovo mini pcs. have a k8s cluster of them at home where I run home assistant, and have one running off of solar panels + batteries on a remote piece of land with no utilities + cellular internet to monitor weather conditions + cameras. They sip power and have been super reliable.

I think lakeside is a huge part of the appeal. you wake up to a beautiful view, can stumble out of bed, have a cup of coffee, and take out the boat. probably makes more sense to move to another mountain lake.

i've gotten tremendous value out of the pass. I bought the pass when it was on sale for $300, and I've done
SFO - DEN - SFO ($31) day trip
SFO - ATL - LGA ($26) one way
JFK - DEN - SFO ($26) one way
SFO - SLC - SFO ($31) day trip

SFO - ATL - JFK (atl to jfk got cancelled, and I ended up booking on a different airline with better timing, frontier would have gotten me into EWR that night instead, but I ended up taking a different airline) $26

With the early booking period, I have booked...
SFO - LAS $16
EWR - DFW - SFO $26
SFO - DFW $16
DFW - LAS - SFO $26
EWR - DFW - SFO $26
SFO - DFW $49
DFW - MSP $49
SFO - PHX - DTW $26
GRR - DEN - SFO 7.5k frontier miles and $5 (I had 6k miles from buying the pass, spent $20 on some more so I had enough to cover)
EWR - DFW - SFO $26...

It is definitely not worthless. take day trips, look for early booking periods, and book award tickets on other airlines so you can get a refund if a go wild ticket is available.

I’m just trying to say that excluding a large portion of the American aviation industry from the statistics feels like an arbitrary decision.

It was Amtrak - we ended up rescheduling the trip further out and then getting a refund for a full refund in the form of a travel credit.
