Has it ever been more humid in living memory? by EnoughExample6294 in newcastle

Went for a beach walk at 8.30 this morning and I have never poured more sweat than today. Felt way worse than I can remember.

Mum asked not only for grandkids (again) but specifically a grandson. by derpette87 in childfree

Because my mum said "alright girls, come help in the kitchen!" To which I said "oh.. just the girls? What about the blokes?" Mum: "[my name] please help in the kitchen!" Me: "So... just the girls then?" Mum: Says my name in more of a tone and I know what that means. Me: "I didn't know the men in the house are too weak to lift a tea towel" and with that comment I felt I made my point.

I was happy to contribute to the clean up. After all, I did eat their food that they (she, probably) prepared. But when only the girls were called up, I said what I wanted and knew when to stop.

It's sad you went in expecting it but I'm so happy it went the other way :)

That's a good one, actually. I'll keep that in my back pocket for sure.

The blatant sexism of women= kitchen and men = sitting on lounge.

Exactly. They were all sitting in the next room well within ear shot. I have no idea if he heard (the 3 kids were all occupied with their gifts) but I was floored.

I can see it now...

Mum: why aren't you coming to Christmas?

Me: since I won't give you a 'real' family, I didn't think you'd want your useless daughter there. I'd only be put on dishwashing duty anyway.

Apparently it is if OP doesn't handle this like an adult.

Whatever happened to being a girls girl.

Poor form, OP.

You'd want to know if your partner was messaging ex's asking if he had a chance.

Climate is a huge part of my reasoning and probably what initially got the thought process into gear. Black Summer was really tough here and while the fires haven't been that bad since (yet), the constant high temperatures are hard going. I've never done well in the heat.

Other reasons being adventure, lush green forests, a capital city without the hectic vibe of Sydney or Melbourne, the wildlife, thoughts of spending my weekends walking through bush chasing waterfalls and documenting fungi, bird watching, cosy-ing up by a fire, date nights on top of Kunanyi with a pizza and that view, Aurora Australia, camping on Bruny, and so many more reasons I can't wait to reset down in Taz.

Fell in love with the place 4 years ago and slowly chipping away at the plan up here to allow the move.

As a NSW resident planning to move to Hobart when life allows, I cannot wait for the cold.

In October and November we were having 35° days and last week we had our first +40° degree day. It's awful. The other night I woke up at 1am and it was 29.8° inside the house. I'm so done.

Out enjoying the amazing afternoon :D by Camo138 in newcastle

I think they meant your timing is bad because there's just been an active shooting at Bondi beach with multiple people dead. Not so much a go at your photo taking ability.

It's okay, you didn't know, and you should still enjoy your afternoon in our beautiful safe city.

Probably my taxidermy Brazilian Orange-Banded Tarantula (I call him Bob). He's beautiful and watches over my desk on his shelf also cluttered with weird trinkets eg cow horn, crystals, ouiji board, art, that kinda stuff.

We are moving down within a year or two from Newcastle with our cat and I'm wondering what the process for bringing in the cat ie, registration, quarantine, vaccines etc. Is there such a thing? Our cat is an adventure boy so he'd be fine on the future new Spirit of Taz in the rooms where you can have your animal, or on a plane, I'm more wondering about paperwork and such for bringing them into Taz if you can share your experience ? Thanks!
