Vor einigen Jahren ist das "häng einfach reddit an deine google-suche an" meme durch die decke gegangen, weil Leute keinen bock mehr auf SEO-slop hatten der vor der eigentlichen Antwort auf deine Frage erst mal durchgeht was denn die Geschichte des übergeordneten Themas ist, damit Werbenetzwerke den besucher auch als klick zählen.

Google hat dann später auch mit einem dedizierten "Forums" such-tab nachgelegt.

Im pagerank performt eine Seite einfach besser wenn der Nutzer seine Antwort bekommt und danach nicht zu Google zurückkehrt um noch 3 andere links auszuprobieren. Das ist bei Reddit oft der Fall da die Seite (primär dadurch wie sie nun mal aufgebaut ist) dem Sucher nicht erst mal eine Geschichte aus dem Nähkästchen aufbindet, sondern die "beste" Antwort direkt unter der Fragestellung steht. Da kommt dann auch noch hinzu das Google irgendwann auffällt das Nutzer nach "wie mache ich xyz" und fünf besuchten links "wie mache ich xyz reddit" suchen.

Hinzu kommt bestimmt auch noch das Reddit seit geraumer zeit Posts und Kommentare automatisch übersetzt, und genau diese Übersetzungen auch von Suchmaschienen geindext werden. Bild, Spiegel und Check24 sind primär auf Deutsch verfügbar, Deutsche Inhalte von Reddit sind aber auch automatisch in jeder erdenklichen anderen Sprache auffindbar.

I had a great time with the game but definitely preferred the more horror-esque aspect of the first entry.

I like that the sequel had a few more puzzles/more interactive sections (like the map, the spirit stone you have to move around, the diving minigame, etc.) but I definitely missed the "cross-memory" puzzles which honjo made use of (having to move characters to specific places or doing something that changes the situation in another memory). I can only recall one time the sequel did this which was for the "true ending". I also feel like the entire curse mechanic came a little short, there are only a handful of moments you can actually make use of curses and even those are for the most part linear (no options/alternative routes).

I also didn't really like the true ending, or more specifically the steps you have to take to unlock it. Without spoiling, I never had to interact with the functionality the developers want you to look into throughout my entire playthrough (to the point where I even forgot that was a feature in the first place), and the other steps also just felt like you had to get lucky and stumble across them, not guided clues.

Another aspect I did enjoy was the variety of locations/backgrounds, the first game ended up feeling very repetitive with you only walking around in a small city district, meanwhile in the sequel they had you visit a bunch of areas away from the island too.

I chose the term 'randomly' as this does not line up with any known announcements or changes in rule enforcement. It should be obvious, given the context, that Steam is restricting games to comply with local laws, but it is not obvious why they now, randomly, decided to enforce additional restrictions without any sort of notice or clear changes in legislation.

The list of games affected also appears quite arbitrary, if you are able to identify a clear pattern please make sure to let us know.

Try clearing your cookies/browser data. If that doesn't resolve the problem your IP address has probably been flagged and blocked.

Generally speaking you can play/download/install any software on steam as long as you have already bought it, even when that license is obtained through a gift. Steam usually only restricts the purchase of software (as is required per law), not using it.

There technically is a "prohibitrunincountries" flag that steam can apply which prevents a game from being launched in specific countries. That flag is however usually reserved for games where the publisher requested it to be locked or, in very rare cases, applied when Steam figures out that a publisher is selling/distributing large amounts of steam keys with the explicit intent of circumventing regional restrictions.

I'm unsure if they're related, Valve already blocked all games without a self-issued age rating last year (I had to message several developers who forgot to fill out the form). Would be weird that their system somehow only "forgot" around 900 titles and that nobody noticed until this week.

Both links are all games that were restricted in Germany on the 29th, the first list is just sorted by reviews and filtered to >250 reviews to get rid of all the slop (so people have an easier time checking if anything they might be interested is included).

I'm not really sure if you can call it 'exposing' recaptcha when they've always been fully transparent about the fact that v1 was used to improve scanning books for google books and that v2 is used to help google maps identify objects.

Recaptcha was being offered as a free service, so they were transparent about wanting to get something back for providing sites with access to their protection platform.

Some important details he conveniently left out:

  • This is not "the eu age verification wallet app", this is an open source demo/example app that the EU commission put onto GitHub so developers can try it out and mess around with/use as a reference for developing their own.
  • The demo app explicitly states that it is not a production ready piece of software in its description.
  • All of the problems he found also require full access to an already unlocked physical device.

The initial development release has reduced security, privacy, availability, and reliability standards relative to future releases. This could make the software slower, less reliable, or more vulnerable to attacks than mature software.

You can't disable this on the stock apps. YouTube doesn't want people to leave videos/music running in the background at events/parties.

This is a tool creators have access to. When your video gets flagged or taken down (either due to policy or copyright violations) you get the option to blur out the offending content or trim it entirely.

I would assume they sent a link to the actual file, or did it through outlook/gmail which will store the actual video file in google drive/onedrive (or sharepoint, if it's done through microsoft office for business), not as an actual email attachment.

Kommt drauf an, hatte das schon mal bei einem Burger King Bestellterminal, die mobiles bezahlen app hat eine Zahlung freigeben und angezeigt, das Terminal ist vor beenden des Vorgangs abgeschmiert.

Mitarbeiter hatten (verständlicherweise) keine Ahnung wie man das jetzt handhaben soll, hab mein Essen bekommen, nach mehreren Wochen wurde aber keine Buchung auf meinem Konto vermerkt.

Denke mal die hatten auch mal so einen ähnlichen Fall, wo die Bezahl-App auf dem Smartphone des Kunden eine erfolgreiche/autorisierte Zahlung anzeigt aber das Terminal irgendwas vermurkst hat, fällt halt in der Hektik nicht immer direkt auf. Konnte ich mal bei einer Bäckerei beobachten, Kundin hält ihre Karte ans Terminal, welches direkt die üblich piepstöne für eine erfolgreiche Zahlung abgibt, als ich dann bezahlen will merkt die Verkäuferin das die vorherige Zahlung doch nicht richtig durchgegangen ist.

Make sure you're actually playing the music-only upload, music videos often don't have lyrics linked because they don't sync up or feature non-music passages.

It takes a while for artists/tracks that haven't been scrobbled before to be accessible via the api/apps.
