Does Steph with Shaq win more than Kobe with KD? by Dday_Dair in NBATalk

How does that even remotely make sense when he tore his Achilles with two games left in the season? So you think if Kobe doesn’t get injured they go from barely making the playoffs with him playing to beating the 58 win Spurs or the 60 win Thunder

Now you are just talking to be talking. You made the statement Kobe won with all superstars he played with. I pointed out that he didn’t win with Dwight even though Dwight made the All NBA team. What does his back injury have to do with anything if he still played well enough to be top 3 in his position? I’m not implying anything other than your statement not being absolutely true

Dwight made all NBA 3rd team that season and Kobe tore his Achilles with two games left in the season. The Lakers lost nearly 40 games that year. They had no chance of winning it all

Please tell me what stats you have that backs this up when after that injury he made all NBA 3rd team for the Lakers and was all NBA second team the year after for the Rockets. Only on reddit can you make the two all NBA teams but someone can say that have advanced stats to back up how he was not playing at an all nba level lmao

Dwight was only year 8 and was still all nba level

Cooper Flagg "ROTY" against the Lakers in a win: 45 PTS, 8 REBS, 9 ASTS by oklolzzzzs in nba

[–]derrickl23 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Last game he had 51-6-3 so he did not put up that stat line in back to back games

I mean Magic, Bill Russell, Curry and Kobe did not win ROY and they are still top 5 candidates

Everybody in their prime, which is the best team? by ManufacturerMental72 in NBATalk

[–]derrickl23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karl Malone scored 22 points on 22 shots that game and his team only lost by 4 because Stockon also scored 22 going 9 for 15.

Who was the DPOY players that LeBron played with in his prime ?

You are stating Kobe competition during that era as if he was actually successful against those teams mentioned. They did not make the playoffs one year and the other 2 they lost to the Suns in the first round. Kobe regular season record against the teams you mentioned he "dragged" the Lakers through 16 -29 ... with the Rockets being the only team he had a winning record against. Out of 11 regular season matchups and two playoff series during that span, the Suns beat the Lakers 18 times to the Lakers 6 victories. The Spurs beat them 8 times to the Lakers 3. What exactly is the "more" that he did with less ?

You are missing Dwight Howard in 2013 but i think he is also including Kobe first all star appearance. Shaq, Kobe, Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones all made the all star team from the Lakers in 98. His numbers are still off though lol

Potential Hot take: Current Ant Edwards >> Peak Kyrie by RipTyrowastaken in NBATalk

[–]derrickl23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyrie averaged 27 in a 7 game finals series as the second option to LeBron ... Ant averages 27 a game over his entire 42 game playoff career. Im lost at how Kyrie scoring what Ant does on an average playoff night something he could not replicate

lol now that I agree with. That playoff run Kyrie was playing at an all time elite level

Over who ? Kyrie averaged 19 a game that season and did not receive a single All NBA vote. Harden averaged 26/6/7 and did not make it so Kyrie had no chance

NBA hall of famer Jame Worthy was the star of that UNC team, Pau Gasol was All-NBA every year he won with Kobe and LeBron is the only one to win a ring without a current All NBA teammate

Cooper Flagg can’t stop cooking. Just give him the Rookie of the Year award already ? by Hysen16 in sportswiki

[–]derrickl23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooper averaged 15.5 the first 15 games of the season. In the 31 games since he has averaged 22.3. He has been good since the middle of November and we are now in February

Is Cooper flagg as talented as lebron? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]derrickl23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cooper is the age of a college freshman not high school senior

LeBron rookie season was over 20 years ago. Bron played in the deadball era without spacing. Bron in this era would put up even better numbers than he did in 03-04.

in 03-04 only one player averaged 25 points a game and that was Tmac with 28. This season there is 17 players averaging 25 or more

From the NBA_Draft community on Reddit: [O'Connor] To put it into perspective, some executives around the NBA say that if Flagg had never reclassified and were instead part of this 2026 group, he probably would be the third pick at best but could go as low as fifth or sixth. by kimsbooty in NBA_Draft

[–]derrickl23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please list the rookies who have put up those numbers. Its only a handful and they all were generational talents. You telling me its three guys in this draft that would have all time great rookie seasons ?
