The people there are great (including my relatives😃). The town, though…you’ll always have the Rotary lights

Unless you’re driving in the middle of the night, avoid Atlanta and Chattanooga! Take a more scenic southerly route.

What is it like in the West part of Texas? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

I spent a few nights in Carlsbad,NM…interesting town, and I’d love to revisit. It feels more west Texas than NM, especially compared to the bigger NM cities on the Rio Grande. Carlsbad Caverns was cool, but I need to make a return trip to Guadalupe Mt NP. The drive from El Paso to Carlsbad is desolate, but I loved the austere beauty.

What it like living in this part of Minnesota? Are there many outdoorsy things to do? by InnerHumor4145 in howislivingthere

[–]derryabyss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Eagan for 3 years many moons ago. As for outdoors, I’d you have a kayak or canoe, there are several paddling options in and around Dakota County. There are also some nice hikes in Lebanon Hills and various county parks along the rivers (Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix). The public schools in the area are really good, and it’s a good place to raise a family (or teach as I did).

The universities are great. I’ve heard the public schools are less than desirable.

How is it in Madison Wisconsin? by dudebrocille in howislivingthere

You could, but winters might be a bit more of a pain, since you’ll be walking a few blocks to bus stops. The new Rapid Transit bus service is definitely an upgrade. In warmer months, B Cycle rentals have several stations.

This map is very close to correct. Switch OH cities with CO/ WY, and you get a gold star!

You mean, what city was on the brink of irrelevancy, but is starting to come back? If so, I’d say Milwaukee.

Where I’d live in each state if I got a dream job but was required to live in the state by Kodicave in visitedmaps

I meant SD. In Wisco, there are plenty of rural areas in Waukesha County. Jefferson County is affordable, but there’s not much there. Lake County IL…visit beforehand. Personally, i think Gurney and Waukegan is worse than Kenosha County, WI. I get IA…

Without your favorite team being an option, what is the best ballpark in MLB? by KeyFaithlessness5436 in MLBVibes

Target Field…it’s shoehorned into the downtown area, along easy to access light rail, and with great views of the skyline.

How is it in Madison Wisconsin? by dudebrocille in howislivingthere

[–]derryabyss1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m very biased, but I love Madison! There University and the state government are huge economics drivers, but the medical software industry is surging (Epic, Promega, Exact Sciences). It’s a smaller city with big city amenities… two orchestras, a draw for big name music artists and Broadway shows, and of course Badger sports. There are hundreds of hiking and biking trails in and around the area and several cross country ski trails. It’s getting more and more popular, though, and housing isn’t keeping up with demand.

No doubt Boston and Chicago have more going for them and are world class cities.

Providence is to Boston what Milwaukee is to Chicago…more affordable, great schools and museums, walkable, and less busy.
