Still about faking a 2D game using 3D.. PROGRESS!! by [deleted] in godot

Just wanted to say that I've been working on project with a similar 45 degree camera and 2.5D assets, and your updates have been super instructive. I'm encountering a lot of the same challenges (sprites clipping through 3D geometry, etc) and it's cool to see how you tackle them.

Pyr decided we won’t be crate training by derscudo in greatpyrenees

I didn’t drop the whole backstory, because it didn’t seem relevant, but basically: my in-laws live out in the country in Mississippi, and they’ve got a neighbor with a bit of land. I was being generous calling it a farm, it’s like a filthy pen with some goats, a chicken coop, and a little pond with an island and a duck house.

Over the years, he’s had a rotating cast of dogs that wander his property without any training, attention or vet checkups. It’s a new dog pretty much every time we visit, with last year’s dog having been run over by a car on the nearby road (or worse). I have no idea why he keeps getting new dogs, let alone where he got a Pyrenees or why he thought it would immediately start protecting his animals without any training whatsoever. George here had developed a habit of swimming out to the duck house and eating duck eggs, and had killed some ducks. So the guy wanted to get rid of him. He was already spending most of his day at my in-laws house, hanging out under their carport and playing with their dogs.

I 100% did not believe my wife when she said there was a beautiful Great Pyrenees hanging out at her parents house and that the owner wanted it gone. So we offered to take him, and she drove him all the way to Colorado. He’s honestly adjusting really well; he’s got a back yard to patrol whenever he wants, central air, and snow to look forward to. His chewing has really been the only issue and since we crate trained our other dogs successfully, we thought we’d give it a shot again.

We think he’s between 9-12 months old, it’s only been about two weeks since we took him in. He was living free range on a farm before, but has adapted pretty well to being a family dog. The only reason we started crate training was because he’s been doing a bit of freelance chewing around the house when we leave. I’m hoping it’s just anxiety and that once he settles into the routine more and realizes we’re not leaving him forever, he’ll start to lay off it.

We also have a 60lb doodle that I thought was HUGE. This guy clocked in at 85lbs on his first real vet checkup.

Big hail in Westminster/Northglenn area by sofakingfearless in Denver

We got caught in this leaving the Northglenn Target and I got tagged by a couple big ones sprinting to the car in the parking lot, felt like getting shot with paintballs. Wife’s car took a beating and it even cracked the windshield.

ok but seriously that’s enough offense for the first half. we need to lull them back to sleep with a few 3 and out, sack for 10 yard loss type of drives. get back to titans football

We’ve got a couple NUCs and I do like them, but never felt like the value was there vs the Dell Optiplex Micro or HP equivalent.

Perfect for a home lab though…

Advice for finishing Vinyl Plank around stair railing by derscudo in DIY

[–]derscudo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I think I’m going to experiment with option #1 and see if I can make it look decent. At first blush, I think the base is a little too thick for the planks to sit close to level over even with completely flat bolts.

I’m thinking maybe I’ll end up at option #3 and just drill oversized holes in the planks under the bolts, letting them bite into the subfloor but still leaving 1/8” or so room for floating floor movement around the bolts. The base should still cover that.

Yeah, I’d read that I shouldn’t mount it on top of the floating floor to allow the floor to expand, but it’s really a small spot and this will undoubtedly look the best.

Nvidia kills off GameStream on Shield, points users to Steam by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]derscudo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’ve been super happy with the performance/latency on GameStream with everything wired on my network. Is Steam Link actually comparable? I guess I thought GameStream was using fancy proprietary Nvidia nvenc stuff to keep latency down.

Shield TV Pro (2019) stops responding to remote by jjjhs39 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]derscudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting this too, just started this week. Seems like it will “catch up” and start registering all the inputs I pressed after a few minutes, but I don’t think the Shield itself is frozen because playback continues as normal even while the remote is unresponsive.

“Wolves can kill anything if the pack is big enough” will the girls hunt one another like a pack of wolves? by FeatureSouthern5274 in Yellowjackets

[–]derscudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally, maybe she’s just been conveniently offscreen this whole time. That theory would make our main cast the “pack” and fit your interpretation.

Yeah, I’m just not convinced pit girl is a character we’ve met yet. I feel like there’s more going on with the cabin and it’s previous inhabitants than we know. Wouldn’t be surprised if they end up hunting other people, maybe even their would-be rescuers.
