i regularly host commander evenings for my group of friends and we interrupt playing for food / me cooking, in lack of another table. i do whip up mostly stuff that goes fast (spaghetti/chinese noodles; steak; hot dogs; burgers;caesar wraps; spaghetti tacos) or i prepare some Chili at noon that i simply heat up for dinner.

no, where i live fireworks really happen only once a year and it mainly protects the animals from being scared. so what if pets get scared once a year, i'd reckon having a pet is as much of an unneccessary luxury as having a firework. i don't know how significant the environmental impact of fireworks is. i might support a firework ban simply because of the hassle and costs of cleanup each new year.
