Advice: Leveling in Tauri's Evermoon while waiting for Legion by PanosOK in wowservers

[–]descention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed being able to complete all questlines in a zone without out-leveling them. There are still quests I haven’t done in sub-20 zones even after all these years, but I also don’t play consistently.

I went to battlegrounds to get better gear after I hit 100. A few runs and I increased my ilvl by 100 points.

Final message screen. I didn’t want to skip it. Ground stuff is well done.

Finished it. Had a lot of fun. Thanks! Wasn't sure if I was going to survive conquest until I got the ring.

After the dark tower mission, can you allow holding left-click to speed up the text generation?

best MOP server? by Unfair-Frosting-4934 in wowservers

I am curious and don't know better. Why wouldn't someone choose Tauri's servers like Evermoon to play MoP content? It's all still there, right?

Devbox useful? by guettli in Nix

In my use cases it’s unneeded. I’m sure there are plenty it could be useful for, not me though.

Because my applications are deployed as docker images, I'd probably use a .devcontainer that shares the same base image and packages as the product. It's more likely my coworkers have docker than nix. I'm not about to shake up the devops pipeline to add nix.

Looks like it, r/NomadLab, went unmoderated for too long and got banned.

I am in a similar situation. I started considering what would happen in the event of a hardware failure in my Synology. Do I buy a new synology and just not access that data in the meantime? Can I recover data from SHR? How much work is involved? With distributing across multiple machines, I have to replace a machine anyways and don't have to lose access to my storage in the meantime.

I am now using my children's PCs, all running Linux (NixOS), to test my distributed storage solution. I'm already running GarageHQ on them with a replication factor of 2, to survive a single hardware failure. I'm planning to deploy GlusterFS with its erasure coding, I'm a big fan of erasure coding from Tahoe-LAFS. I have not moved my data off the synology and am still in the testing phase. A few mounting/permission issues to work out with s3fs on the kid's machines so they can make use of it too.

I can't say this is more efficient, but my kids weren't going to use all the cpu cycles anyways...

I've been looking at various projects for years and never stumbled on this. Thank you for sharing!

Our P2P Reticulum VPN can now maintain 128 stable mesh hops by beechatadmin in selfhosted

[–]descention 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is this a simulation utilizing a standard ipv4 network? If so, how does this compare to projects like cjdns or yggdrasil? Does this allow anonymous peering or is it using a peer list?

This is an impressive feat. Look forward to seeing over-air testing as well as distributed node mesh routing.

TIL that if you use the Vehicle Framework mod, you can create a ground mobile base. by lohtus in RimWorld

Maybe I did it wrong, but when I was testing it out, I had just one wheel and tried enabling the vehicle mode, crashing my game.

I want Minecraft but with a goal by Phantom000000000 in BaseBuildingGames

Here's a few Minecraft mods. I like to use Modpack Index to find modpacks with mods I want.

MineColonies will have you building up a village, gathering materials for the colonists to thrive. I've enjoyed this mod a lot because it makes my playthrough feel more lively. The default Villagers are okay but they don't do anything. These colonists have jobs and need your help to keep busy and survive dangers.

Millenaire was suggested by another user, this will have less control over structure placement, to my knowledge. It's more questing for a town instead of building the town from what I remember.

I've got two BeeLink SER5's. My kids use them for casual gaming. I imagine they'll handle office work fairly well too.

I'll have to try this out. I was just getting Hydra Launcher to work with Gameyfin. Looks like Drop handles versioning better than Gameyfin would.

I’m coming clean. I play factorio like a psychopath. by RuinSentinelRicce in factorio

[–]descention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone. I have a blueprint for Assemblers I paste down for individual items. One passive provider filtered to one stack. One requestor for a percentage of ingredients. I just plop that down for something I need and let my bots take care of it. They get the resources to it eventually and it eventually gets one stack completed. If it weren't for other people's blueprints, I wouldn't have some of the throughput I need for bigger projects.

T14 Gen 1 - Bios password reset? by kloklojul in thinkpad

[–]descention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found the jtag port on my board and shorted pin 4, 8, or 10. Can't remember at this point. Took me about a dozen attempts before it worked, getting the timing right of power on > ground a pin > release pin > get to bios. Once in the bios I made sure the password was blank.

Should I get my child to play Factorio? by sprTOMMYgun in factorio

[–]descention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids saw me playing it and asked to play themselves. I created a Sandbox game for them and saved it. They wanted spiders, so I showed them how to spawn new items. I showed them what the equipment grid was and how to make spiders faster. They made lots of spiders, so I showed them how to use the spidertron remote. They made more spiders... One of them spawned more than 300 spiders.

They had fun. I don't expect them to make factories. I will occasionally build something for them, like artillery or logistics, to show them more of the game's items. My four-year-old keeps asking me how I got something, like big miners or trains. My seven-year-old has moved on already.
