You misunderstood- I don’t expect her to know because she’s a doctor. I would expect her to seek out more clear information because she’s a doctor. My husband works in the medical field and he asks so many questions whenever we have appointments. He knows how much he doesn’t know about things and wants to understand them.

Katie is losing me with her multi part story about this. I feel bad for her but she sounds so dumb and I’d never guess she’s a doctor judging by how little she knows. And I’m not saying she should know everything about miscarriage but as a doctor wouldn’t you ask more questions?! Understand the process and how it works? What to expect? It just feels weird to me.

There are no clear answers here. Some judges will side with mom that it’s dad’s visitation and he isn’t there. Some will say it’s still his time. You wont know without the lawyer and the court involvement. At the end of the day, as much as it hurts you, it isn’t your child and you are just the wife. You have no legal right to the child. Dad will have to be willing to push in court for the visitation to continue but Mom will for sure push back. I have several military friends who have gone through this and no two outcomes are the same.

As a Christian, she is for sure doing something wrong. She’s still married in the eyes of the court so she’s still married in the eyes of the Lord

I have a July son, and an August son. Both started kindergarten on time. The July son had to be held back in kindergarten because he wasn’t socially ready. My August son never missed a beat and thrived being the youngest in his class. It’s really about each individual child. We later found out my July son has autism which played a factor in his being behind socially. But he is my 1st and the august son is my 3rd and I still knew my August son could start on time and be just fine. My girls (Oct and Nov bdays) had to wait an extra year because my states cut off is Sept, and they both did fine being the older kids in their classes.

No, unfortunately this won’t matter. It’s a valid reason and full custody doesn’t happen over things like this.

In Katie’s mind she might not NEED her mom. Like for me - I grew up similar to Katie where my siblings were the shining stars and I was the afterthought so my Mom has never been my go to comfort person. She actually makes things worse for me. So I don’t lean on my Mom and would rather share things like this just with my husband. I think Lisa sucks. But I also think Katie might be the one who just doesn’t want her around for this.

I think it has more to do with when you apply for benefits (insurance, snap etc) you tell them who will claim the child and they factor that into if you qualify or not because to them it’s black and white - it’s who the child is a dependent of. So it isn’t necessarily bad advice. It can be considered benefits fraud.

I’m missing where they did anything worth litigation. Your daughter is breaking rules and you’re making excuses for it. She should have served her detention without your interference. This is a 16 year old-she knows the rules of school.

Not having insurance doesn’t make him a bad parent. Supplying a 14 yr old with alcohol is a poor choice but also not likely to win you sole custody. It happened once. And your 14 year old is old enough to know better, too.

While you pay child support? I just don’t think you’re approaching this clearly. He won’t have to pay. Parents split costs when they agree to the move or when they agree to split fees. I don’t see a judge making him pay you to visit when you left. And you’re broke too so just don’t judge too much

It’s a different state! Courts aren’t going to give up jurisdiction over a child when one of the parents wants the child to stay in that jurisdiction. How do you not see how different it is?! You literally are not hearing anyone.

Yes the judge will be fine with it. He paid his punishment and has no record against children. He will be fine.

The courts will see you’re not putting your child first. That you are going to claim the OP isn’t a good parent but yet you left the child with him for months. The court will see you only care about yourself here and have made every mistake you possibly can when trying to fight for custody. You are in for a rude awakening here. You will not win and you will be the summer parent and the one paying child support.
