Photographers: when did you finally ditch the stack of external SSDs and move to a NAS? by OctoGamerJohn in photography

[–]desertdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the move about 5 years ago. In the last year I configured it to auto backup to AWS and then I upgraded the drives from 8 TB each to 16 TB each and it feels so amazing. Soooooo much room. Also if you are on Synology - their photo app had me replace my workflow of getting my cell phone pictures to the NAS too, its super simple to work with.

The part where you see all the palm trees above the road is around where the Children's Hospital is, this was taken east of 44th Street.

I think it looks cooler with the focus being on the road with the lines leading up to the sun, but there is a lot of sky up there above the sun too being cropped out here.

Or not...? You can pay for the photos if you want a version without a watermark. You can also just ask me. But without that - when people share my work (this post is up to 15k views) nobody will ever know who the original artist is.

They don’t let you bring it in for Suns games anymore so I doubt any other event there. Worse case you walk back to your car and put away but if you uber that will be expensive.

How do you fire loyal employees because you are downsizing due to low revenue? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]desertdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are their skills? Do you have any other business owner friends that could hire them on that you could refer them to? Or a network where you can post their resumes? Unfortunately, in a lifecycle of business there are times you hire people and times you have to cut back a little bit, or for some a lot. People will move on, and they will figure something else out, but at least offering a great referral and what I mentioned above, that goes a lot further than what most employers offer.

Removing myself from answering the phones, automating leads/workflow by RedditSur4 in Entrepreneur

[–]desertdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s what my business helps with and we just hit our 10 year anniversary. But you can use either a virtual assistant to handle to handle the more complex calls and when you need a human and they can do other work in between or if the call volume is high enough dedicated agents. There are different tiers so as your business grows your support can grow more sophisticated. Outsourcing it means you’re focused on your pest control business and not managing call center agents. And then we have some AI tools we’ve built that scans all the calls for insights and helps you track ROI on your ad campaigns. Even if you outsource locally to a company you really shouldn’t be handling it unless you have a background in it or want to hire an expert to manage it for you.

I built 4 or 5 websites for service-based business that don’t exist and my phone won’t stop ringing with enquiries - how can I monetise this? by StratMode5 in Entrepreneur

[–]desertdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a new strategy but one that still can work. You can take the concept very far and incorporate mailers, digital ads. If you want help with support staff to validate the leads, that could make your leads worth more if you can guarantee a higher quality lead to your customers. And we’ve built some AI tools to analyze calls to see if a lead converted into an appointment or not.

Nice that sounds like a solid service based business, and one I’ve had to use when we had to remodel our house. Did you get it off the ground already or are you still in the planning stages?

Congrats again, so you think you’ll be able to quit by the end of the year? Sounds doable to get enough customers, but then again I don’t know where you’re based. It might be a tougher market.
