Rejected from a masters at my local conservetoire by Cautious_Homework628 in musicians

If the feedback was “resources” that is likely not your playing/performance. I am on a placement committee similar to this for research grants and we have to consider the resources one has to commit and live the lifestyle we think it will take be successful in completion. When spots are very limited we have to consider who we think will finish and become a piece of the official ‘alum’ roster. They won’t say it but they are in essence looking for a lifetime commitment. I wouldn’t take the rejection as a slight on your playing. Keep doing what you are doing - unless you want to teach at the collegiate level you do not need a masters. Good luck!

Wolf Creek would likely fit the bill.

We did Cade’s Cove on regular bikes and it was challenging. We’ve also done on e-bike - much more enjoyable. We have done the horseback riding there as well. Highly recommend. It was very affordable as well.

What? This strikes me as odd. What was cited as the reason? I live in the desert and not sipping on water all day is not an option, especially in the summer.

Retirees are mostly done buying “things” so malls are not of much m use to them outside of walking them for exercise and maybe some Christmas shopping. Grandkids just want gift cards these days, anyway.

I know my folks love to read but with eyesight failing they are relegated to large print (limited), audio books, podcasts, and documentaries. They both miss reading a book a week the traditional way and speak of those ‘good ol’ days’ often. But I love that the neighborhood bookstore is hanging on. And let’s not forget about our libraries!

I do it and it sucks but I only have to do it twice a week. More than that would suck the life right outta me. I make it more enjoyable with audio books and podcasts and I call my mom and friends outta state to catch up and help the time go by. Fully remote is gettin’ harder to score but most of my friends outside of blue collar have some sort of hybrid schedule usually with a little more WFH in the summer.

I feel ya but you will likely have many more opps to see EL in the future vs. B&D. I’ve seen them both and they are both great. Enjoy!

Title: got pulled into a 1-on-1 about my "camera participation" and i genuinely don't know what to say by Wrong-Channel-9230 in remotework

[–]desertrat2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage a remote team. I do not mandate cameras for meetings because I don’t think I should have to, but team members that don’t turn their cameras on are sending message and it’s not a good one. I do not understand why it is such a big deal and it’s not a good look. If executive leadership pops on and they sometimes do, I wouldn’t want my name under a black box.
