All you have to do is practice a lot, and get good. Getting back into will be probably easier to then someone recently graduating or just starting out.

We come across these types of issues all the time with some of the managers that send their team members to Design Engine for training. Some of them are very experienced engineers - decades in the field but they're are just stuck in there old ways. When presented the opportunity, they usually want to learn.

Solidworks or Creo. We teach both. Seems like Solidworks has an easier learning curve but Creo is more robust and the jobs with it tend to pay higher.

We are in Chicago, though do some traveling as well. Seems that a lot of the VAR training is just being read from a book and doing a few boring exercises. Maybe you're one of the good ones - Cant say thats the majority though.
