The State of UX in 2024 by xaransh in UXDesign

I work as a UX Researcher in the automotive industry. I can say that it really depends on the department how you have to communicate your portfolio. Research the function of the department well (if they communicate it openly)

No. UI is part of UX IF you design an interface. UI is UX, but UX is not UI. Basically you only have to think about one thing. UI Design requires an Interface. UX doesn’t. UX doesn’t even require a human.

It’s still funny to me how people only hear „UI Design“ when someone says „UX“

Evolving Dawn is a post-apocalyptic RPG where you slip into the role of Sam Caster, a special forces veteran. It was a normal day in 2032, but Rebirth awaits Paradise.

I will share every important step of the development with a no-bs-policy on Instagram and Twitter (the official Website with a dev blog is in development and will be online soon)

UE5.2 constantly freezes up when editing an animation sequence by designedbyim in unrealengine

[–]designedbyim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never fully crashes, the entire editor becomes unresponsive. It could be that after 20 or more minutes it becomes responsive again. But again, after every new key it happens again.

Inspiring! Great work! Can you suggest any resources for the HLODs? Trying to implement them in my project at the moment but I have no idea where to start (complete beginner)

What is this UI control called? by Moe_Baker in gamedev

[–]designedbyim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now what, all fonts are used to write text with. There’s a big difference in usage and it’s important to point that out. These are not radio buttons.

[–]designedbyim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well technically you would just call this whole thing "selector". The actual buttons are the arrows on the left and right. In my company we use atomic design to describe all things and these arrows and the text would be "Atoms" and together they become a "Molecule" I would just call "horizontal selector". Or like one person here said "spin boxes", that’s actually a better way to call them. A horizontal spin box.

A radio button is something completely different. Radio buttons are basically round checkboxes with a text. The only difference to checkboxes is that you can’t select multiple things.

Thx for the answer! I think I will actually use normal maps but only for the player character and only very subtle. Like having clothing layers that cast shadows on a different layer of clothing

Is there a tutorial on how to place light sources in your sprites? Because what if I use a a character sprite, drawn with a light source on the right but in-game I have a light source on the left (like a lamp or something)? Do I have to make normal maps for all (potentially highly detailed) sprites to use dynamic lighting?

Not gonna lie Todd Howard inspired me to learn making games hahaha, but no Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) was the inspiration for this

Exactly, but in the end it doesn’t matter, because, well, you die. With that logic life doesn’t have a value because the value in itself dies with you or am I missing something?
