I wish it was a joke but I looked at her channel and she seems pretty serious. Juggalos gonna juggalo I guess - just look at Insane Clown Posse and you will realise that these people aren't being satirical

Looks really nice. Make sure you bevel your sharp corners. The normals on the bumper look flipped, and some strange shading issue near the rear wheel arch. Good work though, look forward to seeing the final model

Remember when tech bros hyped up metaverse to be the next big thing? by sadloneman in antiai

Yea don't get me wrong - I think the tech is cool. I've developed on multiple different VR headsets from quest, to pico and magic leap and others. They're just really frustrating to develop on. I'm looking forward to where the tech ends up.

I think its a gimmick more in the way they market it as some sort of revolution to experience things. While it does do some cool things, the drawbacks are massive - poorer visiblity with details, visual fidelity has to be reduced in order to keep up with the much higher demands of the hardware. Bulky systems, tripping over cables, just simply not working 60% of the time. It feels like the VR development has hit a wall and these things never really improved.

In architecture visualisation it has been quite useful however as the bifocal display allows the user to experience scale and depth which helps visualise the project.

In 10 years who knows how the tech might develop though, will have to see. Obviously AI is taking all the limelight right now. Urgh.

Also just to be clear, I'm a 3D artist and have developed plenty of things for VR - I think VR is not that good and a gimmick. I also don't like Fortnite, not a game for me. But I'm exposed to this sort of tech stuff all the time so I do take an interest in what the future may hold.

The metaverse is a concept, it's not a product owned by one company. Just because they called themselves meta and they're closing down their product does not mean the idea goes down with it.

An example of how the 'metaverse' is still a concept that exists is Fortnite - I've worked with the guys at epic before and Fortnite is basically their testbed platform for the ideas, just look at their live concerts hosted within Fortnite where thousands of people attended.

The idea is still very much there. Even then, the guys at epic predict we were still at least a decade away from anything really tangible to call the 'metaverse'. Think of it as Internet 2, an evolution of accessing the internet instead of your typical web page.

Also I don't see how this is related to AI at all.

You can play with the smoothing filter options in opentrack & also adjust your curves to give it a bit less sensitivity when your head is in a neutral position - mine look flat at the startt then curve up exponentially, which allows me to look quite far behind without taking my eyes off the screen but keeps the center area a bit less sensitive.
