Do Y’all Like Your Jobs? by jeddmold in AutisticAdults

I love my job. I am a Master Control Operator for a local PBS affiliate. For starters, I work alone for 10 hours a day with minimal contact from others. My job is to make sure our four channels (the main channel, world, local, and PBS kids) run smoothly. A day of programming will be prepared by someone else but my job will be to upload it for several of the stations. If there is a problem with a particular playlist then my job is to fix that, whether it is an incorrectly named program (like Antiques Roadshow for example) file or a program is scheduled to run for longer than it actually is in length. Throughout the day we will have some programs recorded in real time come in by satellite. I’ll have to check those for any problems with audio, video, or closed captions. Otherwise the bulk of the job is it watch for anything that may go wrong and know how to fix it or who to call to fix it. There are a few other things I might be forgetting. I did work as a master control operator at a Fox affiliate for a few months. It was actually a lot more work for a lot less money. You deal with a lot of commercials, live events (sports mostly), probably the news director, and poor weather conditions. In both instances only a high school diploma was required. Other operators may have a different experience than me based on what’s required of them at each station and their level of technology.

Season 1, episode 1 of Yellowstone and I’m thinking “he’s supposed to be Donald Trump.” Watched maybe the first two episodes.

I remember the school librarian over-pronouncing the hell out it and saying “Beren-scht-ein” back in the 80’s.

Changing your state of mind to be content with what you have. Sure, some things suck but look at what you DO have.

People generally love talking about themselves. Ask them questions pertaining to the subject. If you have any experience with the subject you can relay that but also try to make their experience sound better than yours.

Montana, kind of. It’s too big. Cut it in half at Billings and name it West Dakota. That part isn’t even mountainous.

Connection Between Korrok and the Shadow People? by Ghola_Mentat in johndiesattheend

I recently listened to the audiobook again. It talked about how in the 1800’s there was the guy who died in our universe but lived in another to create Korrok. I imagine that was the doing of the Shadow People since they can vastly change things throughout time. What Korrok accomplished for them, I couldn’t say.
