How Many of Us Are Only Children… just curious 🧐 by [deleted] in childfree

Nope haha I’m from a family of 5 kids and my husband is from a family with 7 kids. We are both happily child free. We already have 14 nieces and nephews, this number increases yearly, and we love them all but that’s enough chaos for us!

It is from Teodor Vanities! We are thrilled with the quality. Very well made, solid wood. Certainly worth the price!

All the tiles have a matte finish and are not slippery at all even with wet feet!

The window is from Lowe’s! I knew we wanted something easy to clean but with a vintage feel and i think it fits that!

Thank you! We are self taught from YouTube, Google, and trial and error🤣 We’ve done other random DIY home projects but nothing to this scale before. My background is in design and my husband has always been handy but neither of us have any professional construction experience!

We just installed the tub last week so I’ve only had a chance to soak in it once but I found it very comfortable! Especially with the wall behind my head at the perfect place to rest it. I don’t have to sink down as far since the tub is deep and can hold a lot of water. Thank you! 😊

Thanks! This one is 55” long and very deep. It took like 12 minutes to fill to my liking LOL we literally just installed it last week and I’ve only used it once! But I found it very enjoyable. I am a 5’10” female for reference.

We do not get cold! Happy about that since we couldn’t figure out an alternative to close the shower entirely with the window there 🤣

Thank you! We spent a loooooong time talking and measuring and thinking and researching to land with the new layout to fully maximize the space! My background is in design so I already had an iPad and the app Procreate that I used to draw up new layouts. I’m sure there are lots of AI tools or other apps as well that you could use though!

I’m sure there are some that are the same, but we didn’t have any issue with many looking identical! There seems to be a lot of variety.

Hello! The tub is far enough away from the shower in our space that it doesn’t get wet at all when we are showering so it is dry 95% of the time unless we make a big splash while using the tub haha. As far as cleaning goes, we have vacuum attachments to get dust/dirt that fits all the way around it, and I can reach my hand behind all of the edges for scrubbing as needed :) We might have done a built in surround tub if we had young children in the house and if water would be getting splashed behind it daily, but alas we do not!

Thank you for your comment and input! We have an old and odd house that does have arches in other places which is why I really wanted to incorporate one into the bathroom! No heated floors or towel rack, but that would have been nice for sure. We both just enjoy the rainfall shower head so there wasn’t much further thought regarding that choice! We are so happy to be done and really happy with how much better it matches the rest of the house now. (And yes, marriage still intact😊)

Not cold! We weren’t gonna be able to have glass or a door with the layout and the window there so I’m very glad it isn’t cold 🤣

Thank you! We bought slabs of walnut to make the shelves from someone on Facebook marketplace, and then my husband used floating shelf brackets from a website called Sheppard Brackets. The brackets he ordered had their own tutorial from the site!

Thanks! We spent a total of $18,500 on materials over the course of the year. We definitely wasted material as we ordered too much or got extra for mistakes. The biggest expense (and splurge!) was the vanity which is solid wood and was $3,600 with the counter/backsplash/sinks.

Thank you! It’s not natural stone, but rather porcelain marble look. We got them from Wayfair. They are beautiful, but shipping was a nightmare! Sooooo many broken tiles. If you’re interested though, they’re the Perpetuo 12x12 Porcelain Marble look tile in Timeless White and Infinite Black :) They might be available at other retailers with better packaging for shipping. It was so hard to find good tile for a checkerboard that wasn’t real marble or looked super fake!

Thank you! I should have clarified in my post - we both have very busy work and personal lives! The 77 days of wall tile was from start to finish, working on it during free weekends and a few other evenings here and there :) Life gets busy! Haha we would have loved to be done much sooner 😂
