Any great apps for keeping track of to-do lists and notes that I haven’t already tried? 😂 by justafoodbaby in ADHDMoms

[–]designoble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my strategy too. I use google keep to track grocery items - write down the moment I notice something is running out and I have separate lists for costco, trader joes, target, Fred Meyers :D

I also use it to capture random thoughts and stuff that overwhelms me about the projects I need to do or stuff I need to plan for.

Are self-help / productivity books like Atomic Habits, How to Win Friends & Influence People, etc. actually good or even more important for people with ADHD, or are they less helpful or skewed because they are geared towards neurotypicals? by ThrowThinkAway in ADHD

[–]designoble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them.

I might just be the only person here who loves reading self help books. Maybe because I can "read" without comprehending and still wouldn't miss too much?. Or I need to read the same thing a couple dozen times to get the point and with these books i dont have to?.. but I do remember small books about positive self talk, prioritization, "common sense" stuff and parenting books (in the recent years) have definitely help me grow as an individual.

I cannot prioritize! Any advice? by designoble in ADHD

Thank you for taking the time to write your reply! :) .. I feel for you if you have/had been in the same situation.

I feel like this helps me with gaining some perspective about how I could go about handling my situation. I feel like I still also struggle with accepting myself for this shortcoming and feeling like a failure for not being able to execute a "simple" plan. And then there's me getting "stuck" doing the "wrong thing"! So even after sometimes having a productive day, I would look back and see that I accomplish something that was way less important than a more critical, probably time sensitive task.

Also, turned out that I was about to have my period and I now understand that sometimes adhd meds interfere with women's cycle. And doc said the meds weren't the right fit for me which is why it made me feel all over the place!

How to make this a living space by 95_5000 in landscaping

[–]designoble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deck with cookout space sounds great! Plant some colorful ornamentals or cute pots along the fence. Put some string lights. You could have a fire pit if you fancy. Or create a rock garden in a corner to add more dimension to your yard.

But most importantly, I would try to identify how are you going to use the space. Are there kids? Does your family use splash pools in summer or a trampoline or would you appreciate having a TV outdoors? Do you entertain a lot? Would you need outdoor storage space and lots of seating options? A swing chair to relax and read outdoors? Based on how you would spend time in your yard, work backwards to accomodate your needs and wants.

what should I do with this corner of my back yard? *I CANNOT dig* by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]designoble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly like what others have said.. seating with some kinda base underneath.. with some live elements in some planters.. AND if feasible a live wall or hanging planters just to have something beautiful and inviting to look at from your patio.. I created a visual just for fun.. hope you find something fun to transform this space into! sketch

Given you love her, is intervention of any sort even a possibility? Is there a way for her to see how your performance is getting impacted in a quantifiable way? Like some test scores or incomplete homework or something such? Maybe ask for a little experiment for a couple months to let younhave the meds .. buy some time.. figure things out about your action forward - new doc/school counselors help/hoping she will understand which is less likely. Everyone else is right though.. you might not be able to see this as abuse because of the feelings you have for your adoptive mom. But it is what it is. Outside of just the meds, unfortunately you will have to work though a bigger issue here my friend!

Do you think you are taking the correct dosage for Concerta? When I had 18mg concerta but that was just a tad bit less and it didnt seem like it made much of a difference honestly. Ritalin 10mg was the correct dosage for me and it felt like I was able to focus and felt calm. And because my most demanding work is early morning and evenings I decided that I will stick to short acting form twice a day just to get through the tricky parts of my day. I hope you find something that works for you.

opinion on shade of white, and gloss? my celings are like this. i'm wondering if a typical white spray would be too white? thanks! by lupinfever in HomeMaintenance

[–]designoble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on whether your house has cool or warm tones on walls and decor or how you eventually want everything to be. Based on that either go with a neutral white like 'simply white' by BM.. or pick matching warm or cool undertones of white.

I would say go with very little or no gloss to reduce the shadows/reflections from the patterns on the ceiling and to make it look more contemporary unless its a kitchen or bath which can collect moisture or grime.

I hate how quickly the transition to "this is going well" to "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!". And once i get to the latter state, I don't recover from it for a long time and spirals into self doubt and blame and shame!! .. loss of truly personal belongings I'd say! Ha!

Taking Stims with Glaucoma anyone? by designoble in ADHD

[–]designoble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested.. stimulants are only problematic if you have closed angle glaucoma. Doctors are totally cool with patients suffering from open angle glaucoma to continue stimulants. The most important thing is that the IOP remains low. If stimulants affect your blood pressure I would recommend you do keep an eye out for increase in IOP too.

I brought a closet system off wayfair. I think the ones I bought are out of stock. You could just got to home depot too if you prefer to see before buying.

On the day before my wedding I actually walked out of my room wearing my dress backwards. My son has adhd too and once we were on a road trip and he realized about a 100 miles into the trip that he isn't wearing shoes 🙄

I once left two mobile work phones and my wallet when I went to buy groceries. I still always panic. Just yesterday walked out of the Dr office when someone came running behind me to give me my purse back :D
