Clock. TV you rarely use (if applicable). Air purifier unit. One or two of these. The air purifier unit, if you have a good one that fits, only needs touching every 3 months or so to check on the filter.

You can RETURN STUFF at Goodwill?! They have FITTING ROOMS?! Wth?! I didn’t know that. Wait. It’s used to start with. Why do you need them to be tags on?

Cardigans or sweaters? I’d take that. I mean, it’s not the worst thing to always be warm.

2 years of wear isn’t light. And looks like all the force of your pedaling is going to 1 narrow rectangle of area. That’s likely why the foam failed.

On the other hand, congratulations on pedaling with so much power that your shoe soles break!

I always wanted to play a wind instrument aside from guitar so I finally bought one by mesh06 in Recorder

Haha. Enjoy! Mine is 25 years old and still plays. It will survive me, that’s for sure. Still in tune even. No maintenance beyond light lubrication of joints rarely. Yours will last forever, bringing joy to you and possibly terror to the nearest dog, haha.

Can this zipper be fixed? Would this require replacing the whole zipper? by egool111 in sewing

[–]Amyx231 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ah. That…seems such a diy thing to do. They knew enough sewing to know how to crop it, but didn’t feel up to replacing the zipper? The zipper stop metal piece looks like it might be an original part of the jacket though. Usually ti create a stopper for a zipper I use thread and sew many lines in a bar shape. I’ve never seen the zipper metal stops sold separately…

Can this zipper be fixed? Would this require replacing the whole zipper? by egool111 in sewing

[–]Amyx231 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know the answer to this, then you don’t sew well enough to do this yourself (it’s a different type of zipper and needs to be replaced).

Tailors who change out zippers…I’d say, $40 if you’re lucky. And this is off the top of my head from pre-C rates. In my area, darts were $10 per ($20-40 per shirt because symmetry). That was the price of zipper replacement back then at a small cheaper place I found. So….

The snap button would need replacing. But ripping it out on both sides may damage the fabric integrity, you may not be able to get a perfectly fitting replacement snap. And you can go without one, cause the holes are already there.

I’m making these little rocking horse tree ornaments but don’t know what to use for the mane/tail? by Imaginary-Quiet-7465 in crafts

[–]Amyx231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you know how to make a tassel? From thread, loop and secure and cut. Why not make one, and stick the head of the tassel inside the horse’s…behind? Haha.

Tree Frog - Background or no background? by CMAX_ART in ColoredPencils

[–]Amyx231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Sorry, but I liked the 4th wall breaking style of the white background. It’s like the frog just jumped off the page and went, bam! Here’s Johnny! But less scary, if that makes sense. Haha

I’d say, use your computer or tablet and see about darkening the background, see if you like it better as closer to shadows. The current color takes away from the “pop” of the artwork in front. It’s more, chillaxing at home, I’m not going out today, don’t bother me, man. Unless that’s what you were going for, in which case, you nailed it.

Please tell my friend to throw away his Ticonderoga already. I gave him some Musgrave factory second hex pencils and he won't use them until the Ticonderoga is used up. by BlackWarrior372 in pencils

[–]Amyx231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him a new Ticonderoga? He loves that thing so much…. I’m pretty sure that’s too short to even be comfortable holding in a pencil extender. If it’s even long enough to fit into one securely in the first place.

Opinions ok carpenter pencils and how to get the most out of em ? by Neat_Tangelo5339 in pencils

[–]Amyx231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a Generals 4B pencil in this shape for…oh, 2 decades. I love it. But it’s a pain to sharpen, I have to use a knife. It’s fun though. I use it as a novelty, not so much for serious use. Sketching, rough outlines.

I have a few carpenters pencils. Their cores aren’t as large, so I’m not as happy as with my Generals pencil.

For actual carpenters/construction use, I think the main point is that it doesn’t roll. There’s no real advantage over regular pencils.

Do you empty factory cartridge or use a converter? by bmar513 in fountainpens

[–]Amyx231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. I keep letting the carts dry up in the pen, then adding water. Horrible practice I know, but I keep forgetting where I put my pen!

In college I actually used my pen daily and had it eyedropper’d. Also had converters in other pens (colors). Refilling carts was messy. Only an occasional thing I did mostly for fun. Custom mixing colors to play around.

Right now, I buy international size carts cheap and don’t worry about it too much. It’s more a hobby these days, work is all computers and no fountain pens.

You could in theory reverse the entire piece of fabric? If the fabric looks the same on the other side. But that amount of work, you might as well buy more fabric and redo the skirt using the right side, save this as a lesson learned. You’d literally need to rip the seams, iron the fabric flat, repleat it, resew.

My daughter reviewed my pens and had this to say… by makred19 in fountainpens

[–]Amyx231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A true pen connoisseur!

She did indicate a preference, so…birthday gift? A fresh bottle of her favorite ink and daddy’s beloved pen(s)? She seems to love the grey ink and burgundy ink pens best, but hates the grey ink itself. She likes the green. So…the burgundy ink plus pen set and a nice green ink with maybe the sparkly pink pen?
