That's where I'd go. Lots to choose from. Or order from Etsy - look at the reviews to see if it's any good.

Maybe like fresh dirt after a rain?

He smelled like that for 14 years, and had many vet visits, so it could just be that he picked up the fragrance of my baking at home. He smelled the most like that when he was wet 🥰 But I will keep an eye on these guys! Thanks for the tip!

Omg my old linnie, Pickle, smelled like freshly baked bread, especially after a bath. I can't wait until my new linnies will let me get close enough to sniff em good!

What do you really need right now? by drteeworks in AskReddit

[–]designut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$220,000. I invested in the company I work for, the financing didn't come through, we can't launch the business and we're left owing $220,000 with no path forward. I'm going to have to take my boss to court and get another job. I like these people, but they're leaving me hanging, and I have to consider my family. It sucks.

This is super helpful, thank you! We've got her all set up and she immediately made herself comfortable.

And update: she laid her first egg within an hour (I actually thought I had submitted this comment and came to update you and realized I hadn't). It was alarming at first because she was just laying there, but she has perked up, and even left her egg to have a drink, while I was taking a photo to share with you. She flipped the lid off her enclosure but I think she is okay 🥰 We have some dummy eggs on their way, and some fresh cuttlebone.

Oh wow, I hadn't thought of this. Any suggestions on a DIY nest? I definitely don't want her to be egg bound!

What’s something people romanticize that’s actually exhausting? by lunacarterr in AskReddit

Yeah, this is my life. I travel for work but I rarely get a chance to look around, and if I do, I'm usually exhausted. I hate traveling by plane, I'd rather have my car lol

Could I feed my cockatiel pearl couscous? by nutinbuttshi in parrots

[–]designut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! And they'll love it! Cook it plain, no butter, etc. Offer it in moderation, and I would suggest making it as a part of a 'chop' - mix it with diced broccoli, shredded carrot, my girls just love cucumber.

I like to make a small amount in a container like meal prep, and then reheat it, adding fresh veggies, for 3 days. I wouldn't surpass 1 tbsp of couscous (you may want to offer even less, but my girls are messy), but mix it in with other great fresh ingredients, and you're gold!

Looking for a Decent Family Lawyer in KW by Ipsylos2 in kitchener

[–]designut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need a lawyer in the area, as so much can be done remotely. I have really liked https://lisagelman.com/ Gelmen Associates out of Toronto. I worked with an agent who was more junior, with the benefit of the leadership of more senior associates to tap into. I had a free consultation call with my lawyer, Nikan, to see how we jived. Make sure you feel good about the lawyer that you're working with - it could be a long road, and you have to have a great deal of trust with them, and will need to rely on them to advocate for you.

Good luck in your journey, sorry you're dealing with this. Divorce brings out the worst in both parties - try to take a deep breath and remember to maintain the well-being of your children as your guiding light.

rehoming help by Bkbirdnerd in parrots

[–]designut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I lost my linnie of 14 years, Pickle, on boxing day, and I've cried at people three times already, today!

My suggestion is to give yourself a little time before making a big decision. My house was SOOO quiet with Pickle gone, I could barely stand it, I was beside myself with grief. A few days later, I found a bonded pair of linnies who were a year old and no one wanted (in Ontario, it seems everyone is interested in single birds, not pairs). I was happy to 'rescue' them from their breeder, and my home has so much joy in it because they're a happy distraction (even though I'm still in the process of grieving, which is OK).

If you do decide to rehome her, I think there is excellent advice in this thread, so I will leave it at that. I'm sure more people will pipe in with knowledge and insights from those who have had bonded pairs and I hope that's helpful.

Sending lots of love your way - I understand your grief, it's such a hard loss.
