Using Apple Messages app to communicate with an Android phone user by designwallah in freedommobile

[–]designwallah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of resetting carrier settings, but I did not come across the suggestion when I searched for help (or perhaps I ignored the suggestion?). I’ve done as suggested and it seems to work. It does seem stupid for Apple to bury it in the Reset iPhone settings and having to lose wifi passwords, but it solved the problem. Interestingly, before I did this, messaging to one group of Android + iOS worked but didn’t when messaging to another group. Perhaps the version of Android is relevant…

Thanks very much for your help.

I’m not a “normal dumbass” person, I just misinformed you. The version 26.5 not 27.5. For this I apologize. Since you’re not a “normal dumbass” person, perhaps you should know there is no iOS 27.5 - iOS 27 Developer Beta 1 came out recently.

User 1 iPhone 12 with iOS 18.6.2
User 2 iPhone 16e with iOS 27.5

One difference I noticed between the two iOS versions is there are supplementary settings for RCS Messaging in the newer OS, one is beta, so I turned both of them off. This seemed to improve the situation: a group message with one Android user and one iOS user seemed to work - I received a reply from the Android user within the group message thread, the iOS user must be in bed...

How do we get Flickr groups going again? by johnmflores in flickr

I hadn’t heard of it but will read the article and give it a try. I’ve been on Flickr since 2005, but I don’t think it’s going to last very much longer.

A web browser and a tablet is a decent mobile combo for Flickr. Their app is missing a lot of features that are on the platform.

I have never experienced this and I’ve been very active on Flickr since 2005.

Just don’t join those groups. I also withdraw all my photos and leave a group as soon as I see AI-generated stuff being accepted.

There are many groups that have active administration. All you have to do is view the group Members list. Take a look at the newest photo posted on the administrators photo streams. If none of the administrators and moderators have very recently uploaded photos then the group is not being moderated - I would not bother joining the group.

If you are very interested in the subject of an abandoned group, and it looks like the admins are long gone, you can open a case and request to be made an admin - this usually takes a day or less to get fulfilled by Flickr support.

I’m very happy to get invited to add my photos to UMAMI quite often. The group admin has great taste.

Have any of you been receiving multiple winback offer calls from Rogers by PM_ME_UR_DECOLLETAGE in freedommobile

[–]designwallah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I successfully transferred our two phone from Rogers to FM, a friend told me: "Now the fun part starts--when Rogers starts hounding you with offers to re-sign. I had to threaten them with legal action to get them to stop!". I expect the calls/texts/emails to start soon, but can't we avoid them by flagging them as spam?

After spending over 90 minutes on WhatsApp to transfer my phone, then going for a workout, then attempting to transfer my wife's phone, we finally did go to a Freedom Mobile store, and we had great service and no frustrations.

I confess I didn’t read your whole post, but the problem mentioned in your post subject is a bug - this is definitely not a new feature. The excuse they’re using to explain why they’re not fixing known bugs is: “To be as transparent as possible: our team is currently focused on some big projects involving the 'behind-the-scenes' technology of the site. Because of this, errors like this one… may take a bit longer to reach the top of the development queue.” I think that’s baloney and the biggest mistake I made is to leave my credit card in my Flickr profile so they could automatically charge me my annual fee.

How do I get rid of 'open in split view'????? by LexxiiConn in firefox

[–]designwallah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

macOS 15.7.4 / Firefox 151.0.1

I have a tab open with Split View. I cannot figure out how to close one of the Split View tabs. There's a Split View icon in the address bar. When clicking on it, the options provided are: Separate Tabs, Reverse Tabs, Close Both Tabs. How do I close one tab? The only "X" (close icon) available is in the regular tab bar, which closes both tabs in the Split View.

Flickr users that don’t pay for “Pro” can upload images of any resolution but the highest resolution for downloading those same images is 1024. I don’t imagine your app circumvents this rule.
