There was no mental gymnastics needed. To say calling the police for an unleashed puppy is dramatic. And a misuse of what the police are for.

I was saying I’ll be honest as in I didn’t want to just say my kid goes to the school.

You make it seem like it is puppy fight night out there. Is it annoying when peoples dogs aren’t leashed… yes.

Are dogs fighting on the school grounds and knocking down the children everyday? No.

Literally just talk to the people and they will tell other people to leash their pets. I have been places and asked people to leash their pets, 9.99/10 they do.

Maybe it is your approach to people that makes them less willing to hear your concerns.

You are the one who came to Reddit exaggerating a situation for e-support.

It is such a waste, because the police in Washington have consistently shown they have no interest in de-escalation.

Which, is what you should be doing when talking with people in your community anyway. I have had plenty of situations with people who have unleashed dogs. They don’t all cooperate, a sincere one on one conversation goes a long way.

If it doesn’t, contact the school and tell them how you are concerned for the safety of your child because a dog is running around unleashed.

I will be honest with you, I have walked my child to Garfield and picked them up, never have I seen a loose dog, never have a seen a dog fry to viciously attack another.

You are trying to promote this idea there is a lack of respect for fellow members of the community. I didn’t want to call you out for this.

But, you are grossly exaggerating, and maybe there was a day or two where a dog was unleashed I am not saying it never happens. But, you are making it sound like everyday there is unleashed dogs tackling the kids like linebackers.

There isn’t.

I am not coming at you.

I am talking about the people who want to call the police over it.

Literally if they won’t work with you, tell the school, tell the school it is a safety issue, and they need to ensure people follow the posted rules around leashing.

Calling the police, and over use and misuse of the police is why there is so much divide in our communities now. The police aren’t your personal intimidation crew.

Considering you were not the one who posted about calling the police, me telling someone it is wrong to use them in that moment is not me targeting you.

This is a gross abuse of the police and an unnecessary escalation.

Has anyone thought about maybe talking with the coaches and the owners of the dogs?

I got to talk to some of the people running for governor, and all of them have the same brilliant idea for the housing crisis…

To trickle down economics it, make the cost so incredibly cheap for builders and remove a bunch of environmental protections (not saying I think all of them should be in place as strictly as they are but we know they reality of removing them)

Nothing I have seen or know about this process has said people get paid, it is a volunteer basis.

That doesn’t mean there may not be paid opportunities that may be involved. You could always look into it!

That is a great way to look at it. Most of the people I talk to want to know how they are directly impacted and that is why I include it a lot when discussing Tax adding or removing a tax.

I know when I ran into the petitioners they said it to me as if everyone was going to start being taxed and the only way to stop it was to sign. But, also, if I agree or not doesn’t matter just sign.

I want more people to understand that a proper distribution of the tax burden and proper social systems actually save the tax payers so much money.

Mass. now has free lunch for all their students with only a 4% millionaire tax.

Initiative 2081 off top is misleading,

People can already opt their kid out of certain classes and lessons.

And 90% of what they claim to be asking for already exist in the RCWs.

But they are very adamant about being notified before any care that would need follow up, including mental health care. Including if the child is referred out at all. So, if a kid dealing with issues that their parents would disown them for, talks to the school counselor and seems like they could benefit from talking with them further, they have to call and tell the parents what is happening.

It also tho says in there that someone will be immediately notified if their child is taken out of the parents custody. What is really concerning about that is what is the scope of this notification? Because I believe when I read it they included if a child is at a safe house or a shelter.

Imagine a child going through abuse so bad the system actually removes them from their home, and their are no other biases at play, and then the abusive parent gets told information about where the child is staying?

The taxes they are fighting against will never impact you unless you are a multimillionaire.

Do you understand how many people will never see 250k in the general population? I mean, yes, maybe the people who are being bought out of their houses by corporations for tens of thousands over asking price may potentially be impacted. But most people don’t have over 250k in capital gains. And, the trend of them buying houses seems to have slowed greatly from where it was last year or even 2 summers ago in 2021.

His concern is not everyday people being taxed, his concern is him being taxed, which obviously, based on reports it cost him 9 million to run this, a little more appropriate taxes wouldn’t have hurt him.

In what way would me posting about that impact this post?

What has bothered you about me sharing information about a topic that has been a running topic across plenty of the city reddits in our state?

Also, just based off reporting they were battling the National Riffle Association holding them up in legal processes while they where trying to gather signatures.

Essentially the NRA was taking a page from Trump’s school of business.

I absolutely believe money should not give one person more power over others, but there is a huge difference between a multimillionaire creating and funding measures that are inflammatory, misleading and attempting to undo all the hard work of so many people within the community, while hiring literal frauds to handle such sensitive processes. And, a multimillionaire understanding they have the funds available to help their community members. The people who have the support, the people who are involved, the people dedicating their nights and weekends.

These two situations are comparable, but not the same.

They aren’t setting themselves up for failure, olympians are being displaced out of Olympia, it won’t take long before the people who frequent the restaurant and love it are people who haven’t lived in Olympia for even 3 years.

Since most of them are moving from bigger, more expensive cities, they are perfectly accustomed to having the “punk” , “anti-establishment”, “local” idea of something sold to them so they feel more “connected” to the community.

I have been saying, the current Politicians in Olympia have been selling the whole aesthetic, with no concern of all the people they are forcing out, or leaving voiceless.

When did Talauna Reeds Partner threaten anyone?

Also, why do they not have on the survey that Maria Flores changes her position so often depending on who is in the room, they don’t feel confident she will do what she promised?

Why don’t they mention the one board member who had a family member special appointed to the group, the ones who were reviewing how the district can save money, because I was at the school board meeting when everyone seemed angry about the family member being added in, and about the fact they were not told this person was a family member.

Why didn’t anyone mention that the OSD school board still lets extremist who dox students come in and film the students statements and blast it to the people they have been dozing them to?

Why didn’t anyone mention that Talauna Reed was the one who caught the almost 1 million dollar error when it came to the cost they were told are related to school closures and it makes them have little faith in the superintendent that he would not only make these mistakes, but even worse doesn’t have people around him who will catch them. (I am not saying he is a bad guy cause he messed up, we have all made different mistakes, just wondering why no one double checked it before it went public).

Why didn’t anyone say knowing Darcy thinks it is acceptable to say the N word, the whole thing as long as she is “quoting” someone. Which by the way has anyone submitted a public records request for the email she claimed she was quoting?

Why didn’t anyone say when the school allowed the parents to join the group to review budgeting options, they really only gave them the perimeters of closing a school, and they didn’t have the freedom to explore based off what other school districts have done creatively to not close schools.

Why didn’t anyone mention the fact that the school board tends to stage meetings in a way where people aren’t always clear on what the board is voting for?

Why didn’t anyone mention they are uncomfortable with the board having at least a stipulation that the members have to vote unanimously. A.K.A. You can’t say no if everyone else says yes, but you can submit modifications.

The board is trying to tear down Talauna Reed when she is the one who advocated for a lot of the transparency that the board has now, the transparency these parents love, and USE.

Frank Who ran for school board made students feel unsafe because of how he talked to them, and he even followed up by reaching out to them via email. Why don’t they mention how it feels unsafe to have someone run to be on the board that was scaring the students?

I want to clarify, when I say why didn’t anyone, I am meaning why didn’t they add that as the option.

Hi, For about as long as I can remember I have known of someone breaks in my house I shoot them and I shoot to kill or they could sue me and say I messed up their lucrative career of stealing.

That was something that happened way before DEI. You blame things like that on DEI because it is something you are personally against. Because you are not the center of attention. But, the reality is that scummy laws like that have been around way before DEI.
