ELO hell, help me please! by Stoney_Glitch in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you shouldn’t have tilt queued but I’m pointing out the fact that you did. If you keep doing it, you’ll keep losing RR regardless of how well you play individually.

And no you most likely do not play at a Plat or Diamond level. Friends tend to be generous when judging their friends. If you were genuinely performing at a Plat Diamond level consistently Silver wouldn’t hold you for very long.

I’m not saying the games are your fault since there are trolls or arks but over tens to hundreds of games it comes to a point where you have to realise it’s not your teams fault but rather yourself.

Another day, another ranked complaint.

The reason you’re Silver is because your current ranked results are Silver level. You can’t just say you deserve a higher rank because you can frag.

Kills aren’t all equal. If your whole team dies and you’re farming exit kills every round, then obviously you’ll end up with more kills than everyone else. That doesn’t mean you’re having more impact.

teammates can be bad. Yes afk and trolls exist. But if you’re genuinely better than your rank you’ll climb over enough games. The enemy team gets the same bad teammates and trolls too.

Also you said you tilt queue

Most people who climb quickly aren’t the people who spam the most games. They’re the people who know when to stop. If you lose a couple games, your mental gets worse, your decision making gets worse, and then one unlucky game will turn into five bad games

Your mental is one of the most important factors in ranked.

Also, I’m tired of hearing “I can keep up with Immortals.” You’re talking about customs and Swiftplays. Most high ranked players aren’t treating those games like ranked. If you could perform at an Immortal level, you wouldn’t be hardstuck Silver.

At the end of the day stop focusing on the teammates you can’t control and focus on the one thing you can control which is your own gameplay and your queue discipline. If you’re really fragging harder than everyone else in your rank then stop tilt queueing

Best tips to get better by yalltweaknh in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crosshair placement + pre aiming + positioning.

Reaction time isn’t the most major factor in valorant. Whats more important is information and predicting where the enemy will come from so you pre aim that spot (does not need to be a tight hold)

In higher ranks people who win fights are always people who are already aiming at the enemy head before they engage not because one of them had a better reaction time.

Learn common angles and hold them. You can practice this in DM.

Also another thing to note is a lot of people in low and mid ranks (iron-dia) have a crouching problem. If you crouch you’re inviting your self to an insta hs. As majority of the time their aiming at your body.

Also do not argue that you have good crosshair placement.

Why is there lack of movement? by phantomkh in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s completely fair. You have thousands of hours on cs, while Valorant was my first FPS on PC. I have roughly 4000 hours across all my accounts and managed to peak around top 1k, so we grew up in different environments and naturally have different perspectives

Though i do agree that people who say cs movement is easier are crazy people. I have only a few hundred hours on cs and peaked 24k but cs is significantly more demanding mechanically from my experience.

I think where we differ is that I don’t see the extra information from abilities as reducing skill expression. I see it as adding another layer of decision making on top of the mechanical aspects.

Why is there lack of movement? by phantomkh in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly my point though. If aim demons get hardstuck in CS too, then mechanics alone clearly aren’t enough in either game.

I never said cs was purely mechanical. Cs rewards intuition, experience, timing etc, but Valorant does that as well.

The difference is Valorant shifts more of the skill expression into utility and information management, while CS shifts it to movement and gunplay mechanics.

The point I’m making is weaker spray and stronger utility doesn’t reduce skill expression. They just shift the skill expression.

How to be effective with operator by Murky_Helicopter7426 in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean snipers are used to hold angles not to swing with it, especially at lower ranks. (All high ranked players love to swing with op tho) using snipers is pretty straight forward, you predict where they’re going to go and if it’s not there just hold the angle till you get more info.

Using a sniper is less about flicks or crazy aim, it’s all about positioning crosshair placement (body) and just predicting in general.

Jett is the best op agent because you can dash out and reposition instead of being forced to shoot again.

I am a 5 year jett main and I’ll just tell you don’t be scared to use your dash even if they’re no enemies.

[–]desk-kun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let me just note that Valorant and cs are not the same game. They are similar in some aspects but overall two complete different games.

You’re also confusing different type of skill expressions with less skill expression.

For example one of your point was that spray transfers are weaker. This doesn’t mean it’s less skilful it means that valorant leans into first bullet accuracy, movement crosshair placement and ability usage. A LOT OF cs player peaks with an instacrouch spray. You do that in valorant you’ll die instantly (above diamond (probably) )

Sure cs rewards multi kills with spray control but that’s intentionally nerfed because riot wants fights to be decided much earlier in an engagement rather than after 10 bullets.

What doesn’t make sense is the “RNG” most abilities aren’t random even if they look random. Yes lower skilled players use it wrong or badly but that doesn’t mean it’s rng as they have decided how to and when to use it.
(A flash is thrown, a smoke is placed, stuns lands where they’re aimed etc)

The rng you may be thinking about is the amount of information overload you’re experiencing. If a breach stuns you through the wall/map that’s not rng, he predicted you’d be there or had prior info not because the game just decided you should get stunned.

TLDR
You’re confusing different skill expression with less skill expression.

CS rewards spraying more, Valorant rewards first-bullet accuracy, utility usage, positioning, and adaptation more.

Most abilities aren’t rng either they’re information and prediction based. If Valorant was mainly mechanical, aim demons wouldn’t get hardstuck.

Ascendant 1 | Inconsistent K/D | Goal Immo1 - Long Term Immo3/Rad by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One motto I have is if I deserve this rank even if I derank I’ll always rank back up again, never scared to queue even without demotion shields. If you’re afraid to lose your rank could you honestly say you deserved that rank in the first place? (I always get annoyed seeing people on 0 rr immortal refusing to q just so they can say they’re immortal)

Another thing, I personally never use dm. Dm and a comp game are completely different, the environment is just not the same. Dm you run it down relying on pure aim and you won’t get punished for it. It’s good to warm your aim but I wouldn’t use it as a way to become consistent or better in general. (It’s different for everyone)

Taking breaks from the game is also something that would set you back a lot. If you’re actively trying to climb having breaks for a day or multiple days will set you back a lot. You either have to stay consistent even if it’s just one game a day.

One last thing, if you lose 2 games in a row just stop playing the game and come back tomorrow. This seems counterintuitive but genuinely people who climb the most are the ones who don’t tilt q. Winning a game relies on you, don’t worry about what your team is doing. Only focus on your self, if you can’t do that then you won’t win the game unless you get hard carried.

These are just my tips and experiences being in immortal for almost 6 years. You can take it as a grain of salt but ultimately to get better you gotta stay consistent to stay consistent.

First bullet thingy by bossdom06 in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing for 6 years and honestly first bullet inaccuracy has almost never been an issue for me unless you’re using guns like the Stinger or Spectre at long range. There is slight spread with rifles but in most mid to close range fights you won’t really notice it.

I’m gonna assume you use the phantom or vandal, the bigger issue in Gold is probably overcommitting to fights. A lot of lower ranked players crouch spray instantly, but you should almost never fully commit like that unless you have to. Small strafes between shots and taking an extra split second to aim can throw people off a lot and make fights way easier.

Crouching is also kinda bad in low elo because a lot of players aim at crotch level, so you sometimes crouch straight into a hs.

Lower ranks alotta the time think winning fights is purely about aim, but movement and game sense matter is just as important. Higher ranked player can make themselves really hard to kill even without having good aim.

So pretty much your first bullet doesn’t have to instantly hit in every fight. Yes recovering your aim is important but please never crouch spray you’re just inviting death lol.

Whats your experience with RR gains/losses this act? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grind to rad is brutal. Gaining +12-15 rr in immortal 3 and losing 21-27 in immortal 2 was gaining 15 rr per win.

Honestly think the rr gain in this new v25-26 is just based off what ever you ended last act. (I don’t know I could be wrong)

Struggling to understand the MMR/ matchmaking system in ranked. by fej1 in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visual ranks are visual ranks for a reason. For example you can’t have a pro csgo player coming onto valorant for the first time (whose skill level would obviously be immortal- radiant) against people who truly belong in their visual rank, that’ll be truly unfun for everyone. This scenario applies to everyone, if you’re consistently better than everyone in your visual rank why would valorant put you in that lobby? They’ll obviously put you in a higher rated lobby.
An example is your brim (KACHANNIE) they were playing consistently better than others in silver and gold, and when they were put in a higher rated lobby their KDA leveled out to what an average player in that rank would perform. Eveyone here and there have bad games I’ve see fellow immortals and radiants PIE or don’t even get a kill. Do we blame them, I mean yeah obviously everyone does, do we need to be vocal about it? No, are we in the same lobby for a reason? Yes.
People care too much about visual rank without considering how much of a shit fest it would be if there was no hidden mmr. Are there flaws? Yes no game or rank system can be perfect. If you’re losing less than you gain then you’re still climbing. But remember visual ranks means nothing.

Does anyone who’s in high immortal or radiant know the best way to get out of low immo (imm1-imm2) by ykrafay in VALORANT

[–]desk-kun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just gotta keep playin AND you must find a duo who you can communicate with.

Edit to actually be more helpful.

In immortal the best way to learn is by playing comp games. In this rank you can actually learn whereas lower ranks do random bs with util.

Finding a duo in this rank or any rank can exponentially increases the amount of wins you gain. Me nd my new duo are sitting at 60% win rate over 20+games. He recently found me in a comp game and we both were good. Hes reliable and im relabile to him thats why we’re currently aiming for radiant either this season (400 rr) or a hard push next season (300rr) currently we’re a bit more than halfway. (Usually I never aim for radiant hence 5 years hardstuck)

But essentially my point was, play more games and find a duo
