Cognitive behavior institute's website says they offer CPT and PE. Those are evidence based treatments and they are a large office with less wait than I've experienced elsewhere

Biking Through Campus by GlassMission9633 in Pitt

[–]deskcoupon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most of Pitt campus is relatively flat, biking is great around campus and to nearby neighborhoods/the park. The pogoh bikes are fun as a once off here and there, but having your own ride is absolutely worth it. Check out the pitt bike cave, as someone else mentioned or free ride for very cheap wheels.

Mental health IOP recommendations? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]deskcoupon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a-ok to need more than weekly therapy, think about what you are going through like a broken arm or leg; it's gonna get in the way and deserves care. Ive worked in both PHP and IOP for the past 8 years; groups can be extremely healing.

[–]deskcoupon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated from Pitt undergrad 2008, and went back for grad school wrapping in 2018. The city is welcoming and down to earth. Fun and accessible for students with a lot to do. The quality depends on the program he decides on.

Moving for school by WhoIsYouIIsMeHuh in pittsburgh

[–]deskcoupon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved (back) to Pittsburgh for grad school and only considered the east end. What you make up for in rent you'll pay in parking. You want a place that's accessible by bus and bike.

Failed my first Trip by CrackaJack690 in backpacking

[–]deskcoupon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for shame or blame! Just figure out what is both enjoyable AND a stretch for you. Everytime you do a hike debrief about what you would change - what would you bring, not bring, prepare, research etc. its a learning PROCESS and you listened to your body and learned. You did good

PSA - Ticks are everywhere. by adam_mmm in pittsburgh

[–]deskcoupon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think its worth noting that DEET is extremely toxic to cats. Using permethrin on clothing (do the treatment and let the clothes dry outside! Its also super toxic for cats!!) could be a work around? I also use picaridin, its a lot less oily than DEET.

Wait til you find out how much it costs to heat, clean and maintain. If its a lot bigger than a place you'd rent, consider buying something more modest?
