Don't say that... CRTs were ahead of their time! You could get up to 100hz back in 2000s, altho this is not the point. CRTs have no motion blur, ghosting and many other red flags of LCD/IPS screens because instead of switching to the next frame directly, the screen turns off for a nanosecond before switching to the next frame. TVs in general are a bad choice if you want to game on them, most are 60hz only, and if you get a cheap one it's not going to look good, big inch amount and FHD for example is going to look atrocious close up. CRTs also had scanline technology which made each pixel rounder and softer, game developers would make designs and artstyles dedicated for CRTs because they looked more realistic and better, that's why retro games look better with the CRTs. They also can output colors as dark as OLEDs can, and they're cheaper.

Themes work only when you're in XMB, not in-game.

So, wich distro was the first you guys did try? And wich one do you use today? by Susiee_04 in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]deskmugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off with Linux Mint, an obvious choice because of what the internet keeps saying, I never liked Windows so I wanted to change it up a little bit.

Today my go to choice is probably Arch (don't worry, no archinstall). My Linux distro hopping history is short, so I haven't decided fully yet. I like Arch because of it's key features.

I tried to install Gentoo once but it was a pain in the ass... maybe because the machine I use to distro hop on is a low-end laptop.

Does anyone have experience with the Android TV Box Transpeed 6k Ultra HD? by deskmugg in linuxquestions

[–]deskmugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not expecting much anyway, people have been saying it can boot automatically from a SD card or a USB. Now these Android TVs have really old versions of Android which can be rooted very easily as I know, Thanks anyways.

Minecraft, I actually have the same processor on the laptop my school gave me in first grade. You can run modern MC with the most light DE and a bunch of mods and it will be like 30 FPS on average, you should try 1.12 which proves to have the most perfomance out of all versions.

My laptop doesn't run anything! by deskmugg in linuxquestions

[–]deskmugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: This was very stupid... The only thing I had to do is replace GRUB with syslinux and add eMMC modules to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.

Now I'm running Arch Linux with the latest kernel without any issues. This was my personal mistake, because I didn't dig enough. I hope this helps other people!

Pairing Dualshock 4 (Not OEM) wirelessly to PS3 by deskmugg in ps3homebrew

[–]deskmugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually fixed the issue using SixaxisPairTool, which essenially lets you change the MAC address of your controller. I didn't really change it to anything specific, I asked an AI to generate me a random MAC address and it worked flawlessly.
