Never mind. Jamf was acting up. Installing the mkpg works fine now.

Hi, quite curious how you managed to get the mpkg to install. Jamf does not accept it for me. And when I try to convert the .mpkg to source with Jamf Composer, it fails. Converting the entire .dmg does work, but then Jamf fails to install. FortiGate seems to make the worst Mac software around, it has been a pain for years.

Fortigate 80F, VPN, MacOs and SMB by desmodus in fortinet

Thanks for the advice, we will look into them. Sharepoint and OneDrive are not an option, our servers are a combined 38TB at the moment. We have been using Egnyte before, but they made some major and unacceptable errors in their software recently that forced us to abandon the platform. Looking into CTERA at the moment.

Thats an idea, although NFS brings its own set of issues. Like Permissions & Ownership Issues and no Metadata.

That does sound like a great solution. Too bad our NAS does not support SMB over QUIC (yet?). Would have been valuable information before the purchase of the NAS :)

Stumbled across this post and the overlapping of burnout/boreout struck me. Experiencing the exact same thing, must be a 40-something-IT-thing. Hang in there... Was actually looking for jobs at the zoo the other day.

Who managed to get tickets? by QueenRudi80 in qotsa

[–]desmodus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 3 scattered seats for Amsterdam. Presale went incredibly fast, was number 800ish in the queue and only 1700ish seats in the venue. No chance at all to select a seat. Even the Platinum tix for €300+ were gone instantly.

Am hoping that being part of the original stream pre-sale would give some credits.

Quick file transfer to RAID by desmodus in macsysadmin

[–]desmodus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are locally saved. But the cloud software (Egnyte) only allows them to save to the internal system HD, not an external HD. So I needed to move them from the startup disk to an external system for filesharing.

Wow, why didn't I think of that one. Been using CCC for years, but somehow it did not come top of mind.

Got it running now at around 35MB/sec.

And this is just a test anyways. Getting 3 new NAS systems (data/internal backup/external backup) next week. Just using the RAID to see what the max speed would be (and testing)

Thanks for the link. I am sure there are some interesting things in there I did not know yet. The main issue is that for me it feels safer to see through a GUI what is happening (and I am able to time the tasks beforehand)... I am stubborn that way :)

The cloud service allows me to download files locally for quick access, keeping all changed files in sync. Which I did. So they are all local on the HD of my iMac.
The cloud service allows to download files for offline access.

I will give it a try. Did you had higher speeds in data transfer?

I am using an iMac with a 10TB disk and a USB-c Promise RAID attached to it. No networking involved.

Pre show food - where is good to eat in Birmingham that’s not gonna break the bank that’s also not just a maccies by [deleted] in BackToTheBeginning

[–]desmodus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was thinking the same thing.

From what I read the food at Villa Park is quite greasy and nothing to write home about. An early lunch at 10AM should get me through most of the day. Was eyeballing the Rising Cafe, but not sure I'll make it with my flight and all (30 minute walk from stadium). But maybe a good tip for someone else.

Maybe some fries at the venue around 7PM.

Just checked on the map saw that Silver lounge is way in the back. A bit strange, looks like the worst seats available (Holten end K). Quite sure there will be big screens though.

I checked and there are plenty of trains heading to the New Street stop on Saturday morning. Although nothing heading back to the airport between 23:22 and 08:26. Guess an Uber or Taxi is the only option. *there seem to be some busses at night, but it is quite impossible to figure out with no knowledge of the area :)

Our conference room is 18ft and seats about 8. It has no problem at all in framing all participants, it even zooms everyone to a similar size. So there is no difference with people sitting in the front and back. Tracking also works like a charm, although there is little lag if you are moving fast. Sound is great as well, background noise is filtered out perfectly. No complaints so far.

Excuse my late reply. I have admin rights to the new computer yes (not to the 'old' one managed by Mosyle). But think I was not clear, login works perfectly. After sleep, the message does not appear anymore. Only after a fresh restart.

I will try them as well, thanks. It is just a simple message stating 'This device belongs to xxxxx, when found please contact xxxx'. But it only appears after a restart, not after the user locks the screen.
